This winter is basically covid v the human immune system as teh only reason there is no surge is because so many people have some form of immunity via infection/vaccine. Its running out of people to infect.

wow it said at 200 risk per week that gives me a 1% chance per year to get it

and going to the casino 5 times a week gives me like 7000 per week, so i guess 35% chance per year to get it?

There have been cases of reinfection, but that rate is much lower than the infections you see when covid breaks out in virgin territory as it were.

However I should have been more clear, this winter we find out how much the immunity (via whatever means,) we have stands up to the pressure of winter+delta. Does it wane? Does it hold?

The prediction for no surge has the immunity winning.

I personally would not count those chickens just yet.

Covid has killed 1 in 500 people in the UK, 1 in 370 people in Brazil. Brazil still has a higher DPM than the UK.

Yes, I know. What I'm curious about is what the CEO means specifically with the pandemic ending and the endemic starting. Like what determines that? When case numbers reach a certain low? When R reaches a certain low?

Practically speaking, is it the point when Covid protocols are only down to yearly vaccine + the typical messaging reminders of "and remember to wash your hands, cover your mouth when sneezing" etc. but we're done with masks and social distancing?
