It is way more than 'somewhat enforced', but as someone said recently there is some overlap with covid/jobs/economy that has definite correlation with some politics at this very moment in time. This is the only thread that caters to that as a whole, so I'm not really concerned with the evil politics discussion overtaking the forum. It won't.

Also if they rush a vaccine and it has negative consequences for even a very tiny % of people, the whole anti vax thing will explode in popularity as will several conspiracy narratives, all of which would have negative public health consequences going forward.

thought for sure we would have "covid cards" by now, where you could show you've had it, and certain restaurants/establishments where everyone has had it would be 100% open, etc.

maybe we're just not at that level of infection yet. or antibody testing.

Senate just went on recess for ***TWENTY FIVE DAYS*** without a new stimulus package, leaving tens of millions of people and families in a very desperate condition.

'Unconscionable' fits, but there are far worse descriptions available. The suffering this will create is going to be unprecedented.

The fact that they're on recess is largely meaningless. Congress has been so warped that McConnell and Pelosi are really the only members that matter. If they (with or without the involvement of Mnuchin) can reach any kind of agreement the members can be called back in 24 hours or, as we've seen before during covid, they don't even have to do that for unanimous bills.

And the deadlock is hardly surprising, both parties seem to think they stand to gain with the electorate by blaming the other for the stalemate.

I predict there will be even more stupidity happening on a daily basis until November.

the problem is that we are not all in this together. each bracket has different values and different risks with this.
so getting all on board isnt going to work unless the govt. does a forceful and enforced
shutdown of some kind for all. and that isnt going to happen as not enough are dying yet or if.
