I predict that 12.4 million people will die worldwide, and it will be a yearly virus like the common cold or flu.

North America accepts social distancing and semi to full lockdown for a couple of weeks because people have been told it lasts a couple of weeks.

There's a slowing or decrease in new cases. The full Mission Accomplished banner comes out and people try to go back to normal life. Cases flare up again.

The mantra moves from #flattenthecurve to #burnthroughit and the new mindset changes to basically "it's here, it's a thing, protect yourself if you're at risk and if you don't make it, it was your time".

Ugh - I wish this were farther off from how people actually think in this country.

I predict some % will embelish their symptoms (aware or not) and it will cause many anxiety.

stay home and eat right, exercise, do projects you needed but put off, call old friends, read and learn. this can actually be beneficial to many that dont get it or just have a mild case.

This looks like a likely outcome. If it feels to people that they have a choice between major economic pain and recovery/normalization I'd be surprised if they didn't pick the latter. Some people will look at being a #covid19survivor as liberating and a major advantage + opportunity anyway.

I predict governors and mayors in NY. CA and WA will push each other to become the first to declare martial law and outlaw citizens on the streets with a 24 hour curfew.

Predicting not near as catastrophic as direst predictions. Science victory, I bet they've already got it but can't know it yet. Worst hit, New York or Florida. I do think New York will avert massive meltdown.

The situation breaks, though humbling and near catastrophe. It becomes seasonal and a vaccine covers it until another mutation or separate corona. USA, and most of world, ramps up downtime preparedness. This economic going to zero for small businesses lasts about a month. Getting one month behind on bills should not be a tragedy (I hope).

With calming, in the long haul we live and die with it. One of hundreds of death causes. 125K deaths worldwide by this summer, return in fall have no guess about fatality amounts there. Okay, gonna guess ... its one-two punch is the opposite of 1918, first punch much harder, second much tamer.

Since I'm living this now, I have to agree, although it's hard to get exercise in an apartment (i'm used to running 45mpw) and you'd better like your family.

If any area melts down most likely is Florida, imo. Based on many factors.

I predict 4 things.

#1 A city or state wide lock down will not work as effective as expected, because a lot of folks will move to somewhere else if there is less restrictions. This happened in Italy where they moved to the south or in Spain where a lot of people moved from the heavily hit Madrid area and took a vacation to their beach houses, spreading the virus to areas previously unaffected. A complete lock down prevents this effect undermining the quarantine. France, Spain and Italy all have a complete country wide lock down now. Parts of Germany too, they will decide over the weekend if it will become a complete lock down.

#2 Locking down the border to Canada and Mexico won't help to reduce the infections in the US, because the virus is already on the inside. Just check the map, there is not a lot going on in Canada and Mexico compared with the US: https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html The lock down may help Canada and Mexico though and save some lives.

#3 Trump will most likely not order a country wide lock down, because of the economic impact it has short-term.

#4 Trump will loose the next election.
