You shouldn't be worried. It's pretty much like the flu. Except at the end you might be dead a lot more often or have some type of permanent organ damage.

The risk is low because likely everyone on earth will have contracted it at some point by the end of this year. So by the end we'll know what's what and the worthless weak people will be dead.

This whole thing is overblown because we know a lot about how this virus operates. So much so that there isn't any vaccine for it yet.

And if you do contract it no worries. You won't know about it for at least 2 to 3 wks at which point you might venture to a hospital if you feel bad enough.
By that time you would have spread it to everyone you live with. But as long as they're not old or babies they should be fine. If the latter they'll likely be dead, but that's ok. That's likely to happen from other things anyways.

And there should be plenty of room in hospitals as more and more people go there to seek treatment. I mean most hospitals currently have tons of space to begin with so being seen shouldn't be any problem at any point.

Anyways if you want more good advice on why you shouldn't care about this fake news just ask any of the other posters in any of the other sub forums about it. You just have to dodge a one outer and you'll be fine. Good luck!

I have some n95 masks that i wear to keep car exhaust out of my lungs when i bike to work. Other than that I wonder, as a hospital worker am i expected to die at my post in a pandemic? Someone like a retail pharmacist is probably absolutely ****ed, interacting face to face with sick people all day.

A lot of the initial deaths were from health workers. Not surprisingly.

Re: hospitals, I was surprised there are only 100k ICU beds in the entire USA#1.

Re: hospital/health care workers: doctors, nurses, etc are allowed to walk away at any time in the event they are not provided with proper PPE(Personal Protective Equipment).

I don’t want to minimize the human cost but I think we are in for a huge shock economically. And not all nice like the drop in the markets so far this week.

I can’t talk too specifically as I probably have some non-public information. But if China keeps factories closed for much longer, my industry is going to come to a halt. We typically operate on 2-3 week lead times and we are already at 6 weeks now. And that was under the assumption that factories were to be reopened in the middle of Feb. Vendors are starting to issue some stark warnings to us. Tech is going to get killed.

I hope I am wrong but if China doesn’t get back on line soon, this is going to hurt.

If the first wave of this virus isn't that lethal to us non-olds, do you have better odds of rolling the dice and getting some sort of immunity to this (assuming the 40-70% total infection number is legit) for a potentially lethal second wave before a vaccine hits, or do you throw on the respirator now?

Things I debated as I went to Lowes for some other things and saw a N95 respirator on the shelf. Ultimately put it back as there are a ton of old people in my community who, if this gets really bad, may need this on the first wave.

But if your main fear is getting killed in a newsworthy way then keep going as you are. Coronavirus has killed 2800 worldwide this winter, so that makes it rare enough that you would definitely make local news if you were unlucky enough to die from it.

Yeah that's a pretty dumb post. You're comparing deaths of an illness that has already infected most of the people it will get this year with one that has barely got going. As pointed out upthread you're 20x more likely to die if you get corona than if you get the flu (2% compared to 0.1% mortality rate) . As someone who likely has a bottom 2% immune system I'm fairly worried.
