Lockdown.
The virus became endemic in certain regions early on, and then the government locked down and stopped transit from those regions. They were effectively quarantined.
Did not reopen until the R number/case numbers where much lower, spring, where we have seen much less fatality globally.
Its not hard.
I am finding all the conjecture a bit frustrating to wade through presently. We are going to know a lot more in a couple of months because we are going to have data from second wave in winter, winter being the key word.
Virus is exploding in the UK again as are hospitalisations.
Anything other than a wait and see approach seems dumb to me.
