That’s what DirecTV has

You can mod your Fire TV Stick to use it.

FWIW, since it looks like some non-tech people are in here: Using KODI is perfectly legal, but using apps on there that stream copyrighted content isn’t too different from using a streaming platform to view movies for free that are in theatre right now. Just to put it out there for readers that are new to the topic, not to start a discussion about “right/wrong”.

Switched to YouTube TV from directv this week. Saved $100 a month and get most of what I watch. NFL network is all I’ll miss and that’s not a big deal. We lost Fox and NBC on DTV which I can’t do without for MLB and NFL. The issue with DTV is that I was paying for boxes on 5 TVs. I’m pretty happy with YouTube TV so far.

If it’s “legal” in a country where it’s not deemed illegal is mostly a philosophical question. Some people say everything that’s not illegal is legal, others disagree. Fact is that you’re watching content without compensating the owner.

Again, I only wanted to put that out there because often non-tech people don’t really know about that and I think a disclaimer is appropriate for someone who is totally new to KODI. We’re all adults and make our own decisions.

Really, not sure? LOL

Reddit cracked down on r/nbastreams this year so it may be that r/nflstreams isn't effective in 2019. Those streams will end up somewhere though.

Sounds like the Disney/Hulu offering in November-ish for $12 or whatever per month is the way to go unless I'm missing something. Currently just doing Fios internet only & Netflix.

I've seen the talk about streaming becoming as expensive as cable because of all the different services, but streaming is still >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>cable for me. I do HBO/Netflix/Hulu for $34 a month.

It's cheaper than cable and having the flexibility to alternate between different streaming services (occasionally I'll swap one out if there are live sports I'm interested in) during certain parts of the year is wonderful. When Disney+ comes along I'm far more likely to drop Netflix and add Disney+ than I am to add Disney+ onto my existing services.

*And Alobar's antenna suggestion is solid. I should have done that ages ago.

The bad thing about antennas is the 3 network content is so bad I only watch them about 2 or 3 hours a week.

My personal situation might not be so great either because my small town has no tv stations. There used to be repeaters up on the mountain ridge from the big city but no idea if they even work since digital came.

Anyone have experience with TiVo or any of the other “cloud DVR” solutions?

Seems like there should be a market for a device or app that you plug all of your subscriptions into and maybe a over-the-air antenna into that provides a consistent platform to access everything. No?

One thing about having four streaming services that isn't great is browsing is more difficult than ever. Never does anyone think
"I wonder what's good on Hulu" people just want to be able to see what's good to watch. So anything that streamlines that would certainly be welcome.

One big thing I haven't seen mentioned is the lack of ads. Paying $100 month for Comcast just to get bukkaked with ads every five minutes is awful. Anyone actually watch cable recently? Legit horrible.

When DirecTV shut off CBS and the wife wants to watch Big Brother and no amount of Ad Block can stop the ads on their stream...just utterly soul crushingly life-tilt bad.

AppleTV tries to do that but they aren’t very successful so far imo.

The cheap Vizio TV in my home gym has buttons for Netflix, Prime and Hulu on the remote which is slightly more convenient than scrolling through the app list on our living room TV.

Yeah, I already have a Harmony remote that controls all of my A/V stuff from my media closet (TV, receiver, DVR, DVD, PC, etc.), so the prospect of using 5 different Smart TV apps for these things is pretty meh imo.

Perhaps we should pool our money and get rich (by developing this killer app). I'm probably just thinking in the wrong paradigm tho tbh.

after sling and netflix... both of which really are not that good for me... I settled on youtubeTV for the last year or so. Ive been relatively very happy with them even though they have raised the price by $10 in the last 6 months.

You should take a look into getting an AppleTV. Personally, I am disappointed with it because after several years it’s still so far away from what it’s supposed to be from a UX perspective, but they keep working on tvOS and I think they will be the first ones to get there.

In theory, you should be able to say “hey Siri, I am in the mood for action” and get results based on what you’ve watched in the past from all TV channels in your list plus all streaming services you’re signed up for.

If ublock origin (NOT ublock) and noscript can't block it then it doesn't exist.

Not the easiest to use but IMO the payoff is worth it.

Pretty sure no one has ever got in trouble for streaming alone
