Grilled a few "whatever was left in the meat counter at Fry's" filets tonight. Not the highest quality steaks I've ever gotten from there, but they sure came out tasty.
Damn beef inflation seems to have had a toll on the steak thread. Mighty quiet. I might need to try pick something up this weekend even if it’s some lame thin non prime steak.
These are 40-50% more than pre covid pricing and more than double the sakes price I usually stock up on. Not a popular choice but I’ll probably go with the prime sirloin 2 pack.
thought about microwaving it for the haters but instead threw some butter on a cast iron pan and waited for it to get to high heat
threw the sirloin in the pan and after 3 or so minutes (my guess) flipped it over - was a smoky mess with all the butter and then after some time propped it on its sides to get those
worked out nicely, was cooked through but a noticeably different color on the inside, leaning heavily towards rare over medium rare
no photos because rickroll doesn't roll that way
but if i ever microwave i'll take pics just to prove the haters wrong

Clarified butter has a much higher smoke point. Won't burn as easily.

New meat & fish store nearby, grabbed a NY Strip and cooked at home and cut up at friends house for games today. I'm thinking it must be grass-fed because it has little marbling, but it was still decent. Happy with the cook, but pales in comparison to most of this place.
Costco NY steaks today FTW. $11/lb for choice. Mesquite grilled outside on a home made grill my son welded together like a damn caveman is supposed to cook meat. Ranch beans, baked potatoes, garlic bread and a small salad. Wash it down with Jack Daniels and club soda.
When the upcoming economic collapse has us eating feral cats, crows and grass from the park we will dream about steaks while we die a slow and ugly death.
