Reverse seared a flank steak which I had never done. Seared over a grill, turned out really good and tender. Normally flank can be a little chewy but this one wasn’t (2 day marinade maybe helped a ton!)

Another Tri tip, this one quite small and with a marinade, over charcoal. Didn’t do reverse sear. Just blasted it over charcoal and then moved to indirect heat for 5 or so minutes. Pulled at 110. Prob could have gone higher!

Marinade recipe included for feedback (I altered a bit and halved it).

Wow I think the 110 looks perfect. What did you think of the marinade? Have you done non marinaded tri tip before and prefer one over the other?

When you removed from the marinade did you do anything to prep it? Did you dry and rub with oil or just straight out the marinade on to the grill?

Thanks. Marinade was great. I typically don’t marinate tri-tip because I like hot smoking it, but I’ve done so much smoked meat recently I was looking for a different flavor. And yes I pulled straight from marinade onto hot grill, though I wiped off the garlic pieces.

Cheapest I’ve seen since 4th of a July weekend 2018. Might be time to load up the freezer.

Round 2, this time with a ny strip-

30min at 200, then heavy salt and pepper into boiling hot pan of canola oil, did my best to keep it moving for the sear, did some basting too. Super delicious but still a bit too well done for me, next time I may not let it come to room temp before the oven. Very pleased all things considered, will continue to improve! Feedback appreciated

I am somewhat concerned that the pic may not look appetizing

Indeed, it does not. Interior doesn't look bad, but the sear needs serious work. I think the pan you're using probably can't get hot enough. Cast iron pans are popular around here

Meat thermometer will likely help your interior dramatically.

One thing I have learned is amateur pictures sometimes don't really tell the tale, where a great steak irl looks medium in a poor picture.

br3nt's looks med, but I would etf out of that

AA tri tip looks insane

br3nt 2.0 looks the same, but I am thinking that isn't really an accurate rep of the result.

Moo

Not too often you find bogo ribeyes. My lady popped into this tiny little grocery that looks like a liquor store and look what she finds? Luckily she’s got an eye for good meat and picked these up.

It’s nice to have a little redemption after that last effort.

Meat and potatoes for Sunday supper. Tried to ducase method some filets and....something something...we learn more from our failures than our successes

Potatoes were good though...so there's that I guess.

Need to work on my pics/lighting but got an imitation beefer by Costway last week. Still playing w it but got 2 prime ribeye and a wagyu ribeye Friday and for my second cook on it after practicing w some bacon wrapped sirloins I was pretty happy. I like steaks a little bloodier than most..... was happy for second cook. Used some compound butter at the end and they turned out great

Shrimp was great and I think is fair to add to the thread as I tossed them in beef drippings + melted compound better w satisfactory results
