Hope that answers everything.

Hey Sean,

Anywhere in (west?) LA to get your steaks at retail? Didn't see a finder on the website.

Nit: I know, I just don't believe in rewarding people for being dicks when they were totally in the wrong.

durango: Yesssssss! I posted a smoked prime rib a while back too. Soooooo good.

Sean,

There are a lot of people on here who have contributed a ton of help and knowledge to the thread, and a lot of people who cook very elite steaks time after time. I can name at least a dozen worthy of getting a free steak who would all prepare it in a showcase-worthy manner.

Instead of trying to figure out from everyone throwing out nominations, I'd recommend one of two ways to pick a couple of people:

1) Ask some questions or come up with some challenge and you pick your favorite two posts.

or

2) Something like pick the two people who have posted the most steaks they've cooked ITT in the last three months.

Edit: also, I'd appreciate it if you could hook me up with one of these:

Hi Sean, great to have you in the thread!

Sean,

FYI El Diablo is the alpha alpha around here and backs it up with his steaks and other stuff.
I'd also love a free steak.

I feel appropriately guilty about it. But that will change soon, I see a ceramic grill on the horizon.

There is a cool place called the Butchery in L.A. that carries us. Don't know exact location. Our distributor in the area is called Newport Meats. They are out of Irvine. They probably wouldn't sell to you but they could tell you where they provide SRF to local retailers (we don't have access to that list).

Why not hash out the Steak Cook-Off contest details and the winner gets the free steaks as their prize? Seems like a no brainer way to reward the top performer and ensure the freebies get the treatment they deserve!

I love the idea of a contest, but I wouldn't feel comfortable picking my favorite responses. Just a little too subjective. We've done contests before where we pick a reasonable cut everybody has access to and ask for submissions to the thread over a specific time period. Then everyone can vote on the best one - degree of difficulty on recipe and overall presentation count, of course. I'd send the winner the two SRF ribeyes. Is that an idea that would work?

Also, to answer a few other comments/concerns that have been up:

- I am from Idaho. I'm grizzled as hell.
- Smoked Prime Rib looks like it has been prepared by angels and tastes like rainbows. Not an opinion.
- Although I love a good riddle, I have never been a troll.

Check with Newport Meats. They supply all of southern California down to San Diego and East to Las Vegas.

That sounds awesome! There's been talk of a steak contest recently ITT already, so let's just make it happen.

Ribeye is the clear favorite around here, so how about this as a simple thing:

Cook a ribeye and post ITT in August (or next two weeks, or whatever - open to suggestions), any cooking technique. Sean and every person who makes a submission gets to cast a vote for their favorite, top vote-getter wins the prize.
