I've suffered from chronic back pain most of my adult life - I have a herniated disc and arthritis
about 4 weeks ago it flared up worse than ever - I could barely walk and went to the hospital in an ambulance
they gave me some pills which helped then but they did not help much later when I had the same pills prescribed - even though I had an opioid prescribed - OxyContin - which is supposedly very strong
it really didn't help me at at all

I had an epidural injection in my back a couple of weeks ago - it helped a little, but not much

I started reading everything I could on back pain - googling on the web

I didn't know but found out that marijuana is recommended for back pain - even by prestigious medical organizations such as N.I.H. - see link

I decided to try marijuana which is now legal in my state

I used to get high on weed when I was much younger but hadn't used it in a long time

I got some edibles - indica wildberry - which was recommended by one site for back pain - which is only 14% THC - some of the candies have quite a bit more THC - maybe I'll get that next time - I didn't wanna smoke - even though smoking it is stronger - my wife doesn't like smoke

medical marijuana is available now, and it's stronger - but it's a lot of work to get approved for it

anyway, I just had one edible candy and went to bed - and amazingly, the pain almost completely disappeared and is still largely gone and it's now 2 days later

I was in shock - I have tried so many different things that failed or only worked for very short time periods - I'm talking about minutes

I can't be sure it won't return with a vengeance - but I'm hopeful - and now I have something that I believe can help me

The pain is still there. You are just too high to notice.

CBD oil/gummies/tincture would probably be good too. The real stuff is a literal cure-all for aches and pains of any kind and a ton of other stuff too.

You need traction find a chiropractor that has a traction machine, it stretches your back out to relieve the pressure in between the discs to allow the rupture to heal.

You should also eat a pure carnivore diet, preferably only meat and eggs. Take out all sugar, carbs, bread and starches which all cause inflammation which makes the pain worse.

If you do these things you're gonna feel a lot better by 4/20.

If a chiropractor did that to my back, I would probably kill him as soon as I was able. And if I could arrange it, the death would be a slow and painful one.

My wife talked me into trying one of those inverted thingamajigs 10-15 years ago, and I wanted to kill her for three days.

I had 3 herniated discs, couldn't work for weeks and that's how I got cured. 3x/wk 30 min sessions.

He stated he had a herniated disc, and last I checked we all have the same bone structure. Herniated discs heal, and stretching it slightly to relieve pressure on it and allowing the blood to flow deep inside the tissue is how it heals but I really do appreciate your novel thought, that was smart thinking of you!!

My smart thinking included never having gone to a chiropractor for a herniated disc. Happy it worked for you though.

I went to a physical therapist for a pinched never in my neck. Strapped me to a table, secured my head in a box, and a machine started pulling on the box. Not steady, kind of a pulsing action. After a few visits I was fixed right up. Took week for the nerve to heal, though.

I've been to a PT for my back. Long-term improvement, but no dramatic cure. A PT is a lot different than a chiropractor. I'm just not suggestible enough for a chiropractor; I kind of wish I was.

I tried acupuncture for severe referred pain (nerve pain in my arm from a pinched nerve due to 3 herniated discs from an accident I had with an aircraft in a previous life) they did nothing for me. She even lit some of them on fire!

A chiropractor with the correct equipment (which I should have emphasized earlier) and other modalities like muscle stim and traction tables are the only way to help cure a herniation without surgery.

Similarly have ongoing issues with inflammation in my back and was prescribed Naproxen, which felt like a miracle. Was disappointed when the dr explained that this basically didn't fix anything - it just made the feeling of pain go away. Suspect you're getting the same effect. I cannot deny how much it improves quality of life but usually the fix is some combination of getting more active, eating better, etc.

If you're interested in eating better, the absolute best thing you can do for pain due to inflammation is a Carnivore/Lion diet, eating nothing but meat, fish, chicken, bacon, eggs, some cheese and lots of animal fats like butter and water/coffee/tea with a little cream and no sweeteners (including artificial ones). Don't eat anything else. This will heal your body and mind at the same time. It's absolutely incredible how good you'll feel month after month (don't ask your "nutritionist" or "doctor" about this, look it up on youtube and listen to actual people who've done it. I did it, my life changed literally. I felt like a little kid again and it kept getting better month after month, year after year).

Unfortunately for most people, the toxins in plants that are there to protect the plant from it's natural environment cause problems and are toxic to the human body (technical supporting data can be found in "The Carnivore Code" book). Wheat, breads and grains are also horrible for the body (books on that are "Grain Brain" and "Wheat Belly").

Eating this Way will not cause hunger, you can eat as much as you want (preferably no more than one or two meals per day) and not feel hungry or have cravings.

There are some CBD gummies specifically for pain that give less of high. Also, best thing I ever did for my back was started swimming. One episode of back pain in 5 year - from trying to move the exercise bike out of my basement.

Same thing happened to me, my back locked up when I moved the old bike trainer from the home gym to the garage. One of the most WTF moments ever.

It can appear and disappear on its own so much that it's hard to tell when something actually caused even a dramatic improvement.
