Vietnamese Grilled Pork Sausage (Nem Nuong) Sammie with pickled daikon/carrots, garlic aioli, cilantro, sliced cucumbers and sliced jalapeños
SO damn good!
I tried to make the Vietnamese baguette but as usual, my bread making was a disaster so I went to the local Vietnamese Bakery and bought a dozen for 5 bucks, WTF????
Why bother at that price, the comparison to mine is comical. Mine was maybe 3/4" tall and close in density to a hockey puck whereas theirs was about 3" tall, crunchy as hell on the outside, super flaky and then like air on the inside. It was so damn soft on the inside yet crunchy on the outside, I don't know how they do it. For your comical viewing pleasure, here's what they look like next to each other:
I did make the Vietnamese sausage and pickled daikon/carrots though and was pleased with them however. Ready to eat:
Here's the top off so you can see under the hood:
I highly recommend this recipe (see link above). Its fairly easy to make but you'll need a good food processor because the sausage mix gets so dense it stopped the motor on my commercial Robot Coupe
