I don’t mind Top Chef except when they do the really gimmicky competitions (cooking in the snow, on the beach, etc)

Too drama focused and too many competitions not focused on cooking.

Like what Redeyes said, I don't care for the cooking in the snow or cooking on the beach type competitions. I also can't stand the cater a 500 portion large event competitions nor the here's some crazy ingredients you've never dealt with before, make something awesome competitions.

This is a critique against most cooking competition shows in that there is too much focus on being a generalist, quick thinking on your feet, and cooking under time pressure. There isn't nearly as much focus on the months and years of experimentation and subtle adjustments to master one dish. This is why I prefer shows like the Japanese Iron Chef or The final Table, where there is a theme to each battle but the other ingredients are fully stocked and the kitchen is fully equipped. I want chefs at their best, fully unhandicapped because surely if I were to go to the winners restaurant, I would not want to pay for what that chef can make using ingredients from my fridge.

Which leads me to Top Chef. The finale is in a format that I like. Chefs making multiple dishes in a menu of their own design with full access to ingredients and equipment. If this is the ultimate arbiter of who is Top Chef then competition earlier in the season should more closely follow this format.

You guys should look into MasterChef The Professionals (BBC, UK). New season will probably start pretty soon again.

Not normally a big fan of competitive food shows, but enjoy The Great British Menu

Producers will always eventually ruin good shows, and Top Chef is no different. They literally can't help themselves.

I made the greatest burger that’s ever been burgered.

4oz smash x2

Medium cheddar

Homemade garlic mayo

Homemade dill pickle

Very light ketchup and mustard

Grilled onions betwixt the smash

Brioche bun

It saddens me that there are people out there at feel like they’ve had the greatest burger ever. My greatest failure in life is not sharing this burger with another soul. GOAT BURGER.

I was going to make one for cliff but he’s sleeping.

The brioche is the fanciest bun at my grocery store and honestly it’s a home run.

Oh I can post cliff pics forever. He’s my greatest roadside find ever. Working theory is some POS cut him loose because his hips are no bueno. Found him on the side of the road and took him in. We probably have a shortish time together due to his dysplasia but we are gonna make the best of it!

Here’s him and his little buddy Blake. He’s part chihuahua, part min pin, and 100% street. Blake is a Detroit street dog with the least Detroit street name ever.

He likes an elevated pillow.

He sits like a gangster when bacon is on the stove

He gets worn out drinking water.

His buddy Blake likes a boat party.

And cliffs piece de resistance.... he made poophenge.

Don’t blame me. Red asked.

Poophenge looks like it was molded by the Druids.

Blake looks like he got muscled up living on the streets of Detroit. Hope he doesn't run smack into Poophenge in the dark.

Oh yeah, the burger looked scrumptious.

Cheeseburger Stakes cooked White Castle style (loaf of beef pressed into pan over a layer of butter, dried onions and salt/pepper broiled until well, American cheese melted on top sliced into squares

Spiralized air fryer shoestring taters with chicharrón salt
