that could come in handy during the apocalypse, I need to find out where that factory is

That looks like a boring ass job, hope all that automation allows the company to pay those workers a decent wage, I would go mad if I had to do that job daily

Re: Cooking a Good Everything Else

what do you do for a living?

i'm a technician

oh really? that sounds really interesting! do you work in a lab? work on airplanes? in the automotive industry? electronics?

kind of like that...
...i work the swing shift placing a single cube of sea salt in cans filled with raw meat. i'm the primary person in charge of the only added ingredient.

Michael Scelfo, a Boston restauranteur, made some chili crisp ribeyes and I am now going to the nearest asian market tomorrow to get some I guess.

Re: Cooking a Good Everything Else

Puzzle: You're going over for a third date and have offered to cook. Assume you aren't bringing a car so you have to keep all supplies contained to a small backpack or grocery bag. Your real goal is to stay light and unsmelly and have fun sexy times, obviously. What do you cook? Assume your level of talent/skill.

Re: Cooking a Good Everything Else

Sushi is a good idea if you have a good supplier of fish. If you aren't sure of the quality of the fresh fish, cooked fish is still light and easy and delicious and compact: seared tuna, crispy skin salmon, swordfish steaks, halibut with buerre blanc, etc. Add veg or salad, done.

Steaks and a vegetable always solid and compact, even if you need to pack a cast iron pan.

Re: Cooking a Good Everything Else

no fish because it will eventually stink.
consider something you do well that's mostly prepared/cooked before you get there and just takes some finishing once you arrive. kind of like you're catering an event. this will allow you to focus on her/him/it and not the food.

I agree with jack that pasta is the way to go. Preceed it with some cheese and charcuterie or perhaps a burrata caprese which uses similar ingredients to the pasta ( sub fresh mozz if you can't find burrata).

For an easy dessert, flambe some bananas and serve it with the nicest vanilla ice cream you can find. You just need bananas, sugar, butter, booze (rum or brandy)

Agree with a simple pasta dish. Grab a nice piece of bread at a good bakery to serve with.

Cacio e pepe

She's gotta have Olive oil and pepper, right?
Just bring pasta and grate some cheese to pack.

Re: Cooking a Good Everything Else

I already mentioned keeping it raw, forgot to say stick to finger foods, especially for fun sexy times. Going to feed each other right? Crudite, sushi, strawberries, dark chocolate. To transition the mood and help seal the deal, have your date help you make the chocolate covered berries. Messier the better wink wink. Don't forget the wine obviously.

I love pasta as much as the next, but if you're wooing with a cheesy pasta dish that's full of garlic, you must be:

old,
blessed
touched
or a Latvian without a potato.

There is just something about a well executed simple dish of pasta that makes women warm up.

another variation on this is to make apple pie filling without the crust. thinly sliced apples (granny smith or other green, not red delicious), butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, pinch of salt, booze, warmed up in a pan and poured over very good vanilla ice cream.
