Hmm first thing when I searched for that - This Thai dish is so delicious, it just might kill you

I'd say I'm pretty adventurous with my eating, but don't think that'll be on my list of must-haves if I visit Thailand.

Love the book. Really looking forward to the show. She was on the Tim Ferris podcast recently and she was a very good guest.

lol, they had a ton of restaurants in Seoul with pictures outside of tartare. I wasn't able to pull the trigger. But how different is it really from sushi?

If I go to Korea or Thailand, I want to eat what we in Murica consider domesticated animals.

Consider that the now ubiquitous tuna tartare is derived from beef tartare.

And dogs. And horses. I mean we have a fairly distinct line in our culture about what is 'ethically' edible and what is not. But that line is different in other cultures all the way down to rats and roaches. Just trying to keep an open mind.

Didn't come across this in Thailand. Crickets, grubs, snake but not cat, dog or horse. Went to some remote places too over an 18 month stay.

To continue pumpkin/squash theme:
here is the recipe:
http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/44010...ach-salad.aspx

here is what I have made out of it. Didn't have dried cranberries in the house. Cut in pieces apple went instead. I think anything fruity would be good. Put some apple vinegar on top because I like it like that. Cool thing with such stuff is that you can eat a HUGE bowl of it and still be good with your calories.

Dessert tonight: tiny lemon tart. The presentation is restaurant kitchen style (on a deli cup lid).

spouse and i were in Switzerland around 2006 or so and there was more than one restaurant that had 'American Mustang' on the menu as a protein option.

Horse is great, way less parasites. Lets face it them ponys have a sick amount meat on them. I wonder what a steak tastes like.

Very lean/dry, but not gamey from my experience.

anyone here ever make bacalhau à bras?
it's a traditional portuguese home style recipe with salt cod, fried julienne potatoes, onion, garlic, egg and black olives.
so ridiculously good and it seems very simple to make, but i'm guessing it's not because of several nuances that only a portuguese grandmother knows.

who here hates chilli with cumin in it? My parents make theirs with it.. I make mine without cumin and instead use more cilantro, onion and garlic powder, turkey instead of beef.

So you're obviously wrong on the cumin front, but I would be interested to hear people's experiences with non-beef chillis. Anyone got a recipe they would particularly recommend?

That’s very easy and really delicious. It’s got an insanely good effort to taste ratio.

Chili is great with or without meat, but chili without beans is just meat sauce for topping hotdogs. Venison chili is superior to beef or turkey varieties, but that's a different discussion.
