Those pseudo-Dragnet Honda Pilot ads suck.

The more I think about it, the more I think this could be a time when the advertising guys are sneering at their instructions. "Just put it into the commercial; luxury, luxury, luxury--when people see an acura I want the word 'luxury' to be the first thing they think of."

"...OK, boss (mumbles, ****head)."

If so, they could have made it better by slipping in "Drop a deuce in your luxury toilet." or "Rinse your rectum on your luxury bidet" or something.

"Pick your nose with your luxury finger. Apply Preparation H to your luxury hemorroid. Scratch your luxury testicles. Eat your luxury bacon. Stroke your luxury penis. I can't speak for Bill Hicks, but I'm chuckling and that is no easy feet this ****ty morning.

The thing is Acura would be soooooooo much better served by letting Ham on rye state his testimonial with the subheading " actual highly educated high income customer of 20 years stating his unsolicited views on our cars " and then following with, "By the way, we are a luxury brand."

A different commercial; It's for a Tshirt with a printed non- label that thinks it makes it a better shirt. I got a couple about two weeks ago. The printed non-labels have since washed off and it makes it somewhat difficult to figure which is the front and which is the back. I also cannot complain about the specific brand, also because the label has washed off. This actually may be genius because I am probably no less likely to buy their shirts in the future. Unless I decide to get a luxury shirt like American Giant in order to ensure no chance of getting the same unsatisfactory garment.

One that's been pissing me off recently is for the Bowflex Treadclimber. It's whole thing is, "How did I lose all this weight? I just walked." Well, here is the thing. You didn't just walk, you purchased an expensive piece of exercise equipment that your very own commercial goes on to describe as "combining the benefits of elliptical, treadmill & stepper workouts into one at home workout machine." I understand that walking is a difficult and likely wildly unprofitable sell, but just sell your machine.

I get pretty tilted when I click on some random link off of Google News, but first get presented with an ad that I have to search to find a way to skip, then another page pops up imploring me to install the iPad app of "KTXU - Detroit's news leader" or something. And of course the "No thanks, take me to the site" link is tiny and in a completely different place from the "Skip this ad" link.

I get all my news from 2p2. Got tired of MSN headline links that say "MLB star dies suddenly" to find a story about a guy who won 18 games in 1958 dying at age 92 of natural causes.

This new Amtrack commercial or whatever where the 3 businesspeople are on the train changing their tickets, first to Baltimore, then to New York. "No problem. I love New York. Awesome."

Technology is awesome when your boss keeps switching **** every 4 seconds and can't communicate above a 7th grade level. Instead of talking business or looking out the window they are all buried in their phones changing tickets.

He has a luxury butler that drops it there so he has to walk minimal distance from his luxury door with his luxury shoes.

Jaggermiester's "A Seat at the Table" commercial. Apparently, there's a round table where manly men gather and drink. The men at the table include:

A football player I don't recognize
Some heavy metal bass player
A surfer
A drag racer dude
A boxing trainer. Not a boxer - the trainer of the boxer. ???

And they're there to welcome a new man into the club. A manly man. A tough guy. Who is it?

Getting worse

Got hit with the "Either watch a 3 minute commercial to start, or get several commercials throughout the video" option when I loaded up a 15 minute video the other day. First time I saw that on YT. Boo.

The Ketel One vodka commercials are bittersweet. I don't mind the execution and ambiance but it's getting a bit old the idea that "real men" spend 24/7 in tuxedos at wedding receptions.

Pretty much every Old Spice commercial for the past two years has been idiotic in the extreme.

Have you seen the new one where a guy is basically showering all day long? Like while doing surgery? Because that's how fresh feeling and awesome the smell of their soap is?

They need to get an ad agency that isn't staffed with complete imbeciles.

General consensus among marketers is that those ads are elite level. They get you to pay attention, make you laugh, feature the product, unforgettable, etc.

They don't make me laugh, they make me want to punch something. And having something so awful that it's unforgettable isn't a selling point, IMO.

Of course I'm not really the target audience for those items. Maybe they appeal to young men. I think they're hideously stupid.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society commercial dramatizing various peoples elated responses to the worldwide news headlines, "CANCER CURED". Suddenly everyone travels to see everyone they know with cancer (who they've apparantly been ignoring until now) and tearfully hug them.

Such ****ing poor taste. It has certainly etched lls.org in my mind though--I'll always remember to never donate or support them in any way since I now know them to be delusional gasbags with a god complex.

Well, to be fair they probably assume you're a guy until they start to wonder if you're gay and then find out you're a chick. I mean the advertisers, not the posters.

I think the Old Spice ads are beyond ******ed. But they've gone from something no one under 60 uses to something a ****load of teen/20 something guys use, so the ******ed ads must be working.
