I used to have a pretty favorable opinion of Frank Thomas (despite the fact that he played for the White Sox). No more. A thousand Neugenix commercials now make me wish that he and the entire operation could be catapulted directly into the sun.

The latest one features Doug Flutie and Andy Van Slyke, they'll provide bonus heft when it's launch time.

I wonder if they'd try to sign me up if I texted **** OFF YOU ****WADS to 321321.

There's a certain art in the subtlety of suggesting your sawdust and caffeine pill will give men erections. Saw one a while ago where I tell you these farm boys could throw around bales of hay like no one's business and I wish I could remember the language but it made you think, "Oh yeah, boners."

These things, whatever they are, can expire in a vat of boiling cooking fluid. I'd rather not have a phone at all than support a company that thinks this is a good thing to spend ad money on.

Those big hurt commercials never play all the way through here. The first 5 secs air, then another commercial pops on. Still the worst!

These might be local ads in the NYC area, but the Cambridge paving stones commercials tilt me so bad. This one may be the worst. Whitest dancing of all time, plus ancient snake-looking guy who obviously has the delusional idea that he looks really young. He looks like the Night King.

The Liberty Mutual commercials that keep trying to be funny, like Geico's are. And they are just embarrassing.

I'm kind of digging Limu Emu. Not the partner, just the bird.

Truvada

Some drug for some sex disease.

The part I hate is the dance dude, who is apparently rehearsing a dance with others, but it looks like they're literally practicing in slow motion....they must be the worst dancers in the world.

For HIV.

I agree that commercial sucks - instant mute/channel switch.

And in this day and age, anyone who needs to be on it is on it already - HIV treatment is pretty algorithmic. I guess blowing millions on TV advertising is a reflex for drug companies.

Someone got paid thousands for that.

Lol 'The Night King' hahaha

re: Truvada I like the part where the guy says "I use condoms, but I told my doctor I wanted something more...' jenniferlawrenceok.gif

re: Liberty, while I first thought it was absolutely absurd, it does do the trick of growing on you and sticking in your head after multiple listens. But I also do what Dom does and watch commercials and think/comment to my family 'man...someone actually sat in a board room pitching this after investing a couple thousand man hours into it, but not only that. Someone also said 'Wow this is great, let do this, here's a couple million dollars.'

Agreed the commercial is terrible, but how on earth could this remotely be true?

Should have been clearer.

In the US, pretty much anyone can get the meds, as long as they're willing to jump through the hoops. It's one of the few meds that has an aggressive pharmaceutical program to get the med to people who can't afford it/don't have coverage. You do have the occasional psych patient/drug addict who is so alienated from the health care system that they aren't on meds, but other than that I can't remember the last time I saw an HIV patient who couldn't get their HIV medications. (I'm talking about the general drug regimen here, not some of the more esoteric stuff for people who have developed resistance)

Outside the US, another story, and especially in Africa it's apparently a total ****show - but they're not watching the dancing guy on TV, most likely - to be clear - this reflect my experience in a couple of urban areas - it may well be different in some rurals, or even other places - I just haven't seen anything in the journals I read or at conferences that I attend that indicate financial issues is a significant barrier for obtaining HIV meds - unlike so much else in the system.

I reposted this, because I wanted to add some stuff and I got caught by the editing time limit.

Should have been clearer.

Truvada is a drug in search of a niche, and the % of people that NEED to be on it is low.

Additionally, Truvada is a controversial medication for a bunch of reasons. A fair number of gay activists argue that it encourages risky sex behaviors, as it seems to be pretty good at blocking transmission. Gilead has had (I think) difficulty figuring out exactly how they want to market the drug, because there are a number of other treatment protocols for people who have HIV, and they're a lot cheaper then Truvada - but they don't want to be viewed as a drug company encouraging HIV+ people to screw, I guess. I've viewed this from afar, as it's not a big part of my everyday practice (I probably see an HIV patient in the ED maybe once every couple of years with an HIV related problem - it's a hell of a lot more manageable than it was 20 years ago.

Like most of this stuff, it's complicated.

The commercial is terrible and it's obvious that he just wants everyone to be amazed at how young he looks. He probably goes around asking everyone to guess his age. I mean yeah he looks good for 89 I suppose.
