Every year at this time our eardrums are assaulted with the same old Christmas carols at restaurants and stores. I'd like to hear about Christmas music you actually like. I'll start:

Fairytale of New York - The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl
Christmas In Hollis - Run-D.M.C.
Father Christmas - The Kinks
Happy Xmas (War Is Over) - John Lennon

Another Christmas Song - Stephen Colbert

I don't usually like Christmas music, but at least this makes me smile.
Unfortunately I can't find the whole song on Youtube. It starts like 1:10 in.

I prefer the old stuff, compared to any original Christmas song recorded in the last 20 years.

(Covers are OK, but crap like "Christmas Shoes"? Yikes. Give me Bing Crosby or Nat King Cole any day.)

Christmas covers are the worst worst worst I have to listen to them all day at work. Changing the tempo is not new and exciting, it's annoying.

Classic x-mas music is the best.

All the new-age stuff is garbage.

Yeah, good original Christmas music just doesn't seem to come out anymore...like others, give me Bing.

I do dig Alan Jackson's Let It Be Christmas, but I'm guessing I'm in a minority who digs country in the first place here.

I don't expect this one will ever get old for me.

Growing up, grandma would wake up at 6am and ring the bell next to her which would wake up grandpa. He'd pick up his belt and swing it around wildly and the house would awaken in a wonderful Holiday splendour. Sometimes this would lead to a melodic outpour of dishes being thrown on the kitchen floor and high pitched yelling. Christmas is a special time.

A Christmas gift for you from Phil Spector. Darlene Love ftw, although I do like the U2 version of Christmas (baby please come home) as well.

Most new Christmas music (i.e., anything produced since the late 18th century) rots.

Carol of the Bells, aka the Ukrainian Bell Carol, still gives me chills every time I hear it. If you don't know it, there's a version of it in the commercial for The Spirit. And it's the inspiration for the parody song "Ding! Fries Are Done." I'm bad at links.

Also, the Hallelujah Chorus, because I can sing the alto part while playing the tenor part on viola. I'm good at music.

Oh, and Dominick the Donkey.

If you're good at music, you should know that this is an Easter song, not a Christmas song [/nit]. All of the Messiah is great, though. I'll be singing some selections from it in a few days (the Christmas parts, "Glory to God," "And the Glory of the Lord," and some others)

One of the few 20th century Christmas songs worth its salt.

We always played it at the Christmas concert in high school, so I always associate it with Christmas. Tho we did occasionally do selections from the Messiah at the spring concert, so I don't know what the **** was up.

WINNER!

Run DMC- Christmas Is People usually know Christmas in Hollis, but I like this.

Billy Mack-Christmas is All Around Us

Britney Spears- Santa Can You Hear Me? (I confess that I actually do like this one. When I was 15/16 I worked at Bradlees (now bankrupt and out of business) and they played Platinum Christmas from Nov. 15 to Jan. 15. I worked like 12 hours per week, 20 hours during christmas break, for a total of almost 150 hours. CD was an hour, looped. So I heard this song at least 125+ times. It is permanently melded into my brain and brings back memories.)

My guido roommate from college always loved

Dominick the Italian Christmas Donkey

and

Christmas in East Haven
