Either that or please take pics and post trip reports of the dregs of humanity.

The episode of Comedians of Comedy where they go to Atlantic City and just trash it the whole time is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Probably doesn't work too well at a motel 6.

Also some people in here don't understand what a cheap luxury is.

I used to use the saddleback leather id wallet. It's a wallet. It's 30$. Wallets are a necessity and that's a standard price. It's far from a luxury it's simply a good quality item.

If you google "bad dress shoes" or "bad dress shoe styles" you'll get an idea of what I'm saying. You should not be wearing square-toed shoes ever. Anyone with even the smallest bit of fashion sense will think less of you for wearing those, even if they shouldn't.
**throws away square-toed shoes**

Listen, if I need to ensure a back corner room hidden from the police to bang hookers, no price is too much.

Shoes
Jeans (I'll spend $200 on a great pair of jeans that fit perfect. I'll wear them 5 days a week for the next 4 years. Worth every penny)
Dinner out
I pay for a cleaning service to come in once every couple of months, just to make the place spotless.
Condiments, peanut butter, olives, ice cream, etc. I'm not going to get a brand I don't like as much just because it's cheaper or on sale.

Mullen was right on the shoes.

The reason square toed shoes suck, is that they're made to be one-last-fits-all cheap.

The 'last' is the base of the shoe, where your foot rests. Different lasts for different feet.

So you get an Allen Edmonds person to sort which of their lasts is better for your feet.

You get the shoes at Nordstrom on sale, for not much more than those black abortions.

Bose QC25. $300. Sound is not best in class but the noise canceling is. Best money I spent from a travel/poker perspective. These allow you to create your own little peaceful cocoon even in the noisiest of environments.

Dom - how do your feet handle moving from shoe to shoe if you are as big a shoe whore as you said?

What do you mean? I only buy shoes that fit properly, so I have no problem with my feet.

I'm starting to really appreciate the free luxury of not caring about my shoes all that much.

Looking over my purchases in the last year:

Pod based espresso machine - Nespresso or Illy, ends up costing close to $1 per espresso but for me this is the definition of a cheap luxury. I came back from france with a bad espresso habit and being able to make a quick one weekend mornings for under a buck is great. Also considering with Nespresso or Illy they often have a promo for a free machine when you buy $200 worth of pods it reduces the effective $/pod.

Fountain Pen / Ink / Sealing Wax - This is probably just me but I like writing with a fountain pen and being able to order ink in bottles. I also like sealing letters and cards with wax, it's a fun process that seems more rustic than luxurious, but makes me happy nonetheless.

Label printer - Was looking for a used Zebra or Dymo and couldn't find what I wanted so I ended up buying a Brother QL-700. I ship a lot of stuff and printing postage on an adhesive label as opposed to a sheet of paper that needs to be taped to a box is a little time saving luxury.

I'm suddenly reminded of an amazon review for a banana slicer that ended with someone running at a burglar, yelling, "I'M GONNA SLICE YOUR NANNER!"

I've lived in NY my whole life and these buses make the trains seems like a limo. Granted you can walk to the bus and I had to take a train to the port authority but the buses are awful.I'm tall which doesnt help but the people are the dregs of society. Parents with screaming kids theyre gonna a drop off at the video arcade all day, loud people who smell like ****,people on the way back bitching about the 40 dollars they lost, people trying to tell you their hair braoned schemes for beating the house, babies crying on the bus that have more teeth than half of the passengers.I've been on that bus three times when the driver pulled over on the highway bc someone was smoking or being a belligerent ass and we had to wait for the cops to show up before we could leave.the fact these buses don't go to the borgata also sucks.not to mention the fresh smell of piss in the bus station as you wait for your return trip in a station filled with vagrants begging for money or for you to pay for their ticket home.

Paying money to stay in lounges in airports instead of having to wait by gates is a tremendous luxury.

Getting shirts pressed is another good one.
