What exactly is the advantage of boarding position? besides "feeling like a king" for just being the first in the boarding line. Where you seat does not depend on when your board. And I wonder what else might be the advantage.

Yes, any medical article that thinks meningitis is a type of bacteria is totally great.

Then again, Southwest allows people to upgrade their position probably for this reason, so it's never going to change.
Find an airline that charges to use the overhead bin. Spirit charges like $40 and it's glorious; effectively cuts a half hour off your flight.

On Southwest there are no assigned seats so with upgraded boarding you can get a seat in the front of the plane and not have to wait a half hour to get off the plane after it lands.

When you're in first class you have enough time to get more than one drink.

On a lot of flights, lapka, there isn't enough overhead bin space for everyone. So boarding early means you don't have to check your carry on. This is even on airlines with assigned seating.

I fly on westjet, they have assigned seating + i never bring a carryon because my trips are super long so i have 1 huge bag.

so i always board as the very last person, watching the scrubs stand in line and slowly board. Then when i finally step on the packed plane the last window seat is open just waiting for me at the front of the plane. i want to spend as few seconds as possible sitting on that f thing.

That's why I only fly first class, it is amazing strolling past the 20 or so souls waiting for general, getting on the plane, ordering booze, and taking off.

i'm a bit confused by this post. solution to what? there is nothing in his post to indicate he he has any sort of sleep disorder whatsoever, he just likes to surround himself with lots of pillows to ensure he's comfortable and in a good sleeping position. a lot of people sleep in terrible positions that are very bad for their body. sounds like this guy is doing it right!

lastly, i give you novak djokovic napping in a locker room:

That's pretty much what I look like minus the back pillow.

IANAD but he says he tosses and turns all night and needs extra hours. Also he does not have a SO to tell him if he is snoring or if he stops breathing at night.

I also sleep like Novak. Used to use the back pillow but not anymore.

all he said was 'every time i toss and turn', he didn't really indicate if that happened a ton or if it was a problem. it seems pretty normal - i imagine very few people go to sleep in a single position and wake up 8 hours later in that same position. similarly, he just said he finds it hard to get out of bed in the morning because he's so comfy.

i'm also a 'novak sleeper'. i use the back pillow but i'd prefer to have the bed against the wall like our resident sleep expert. i've always used the pillow between the knees, but since i started also hugging a front pillow i've found myself waking up with a dead arm more and more often.

I've never understood why people do that. The ones who start to stand in line like 20 minutes before boarding even commences are bigger idiots.

United boards by groups where Group 1 is first class and the top premier flyers. Without fail the first one to get in line is someone in Group 1, and usually it ends up being someone in first class. I just laugh at these people. We don't leave our seats until Group 1 is called and just walk right up and get on.

Gotta be the first in group 1 though! You never know.

I usually like to book two first class seats so no one is sitting next to me. As a result if I'm first person in first line everyone will know what a douche I am so that is why I do that because I like to see them looking at me and the empty seat next to me when they board the plane

Def,

Why would they think that seat is yours rather than a person just not boarded yet?

On long flights I usually just book the whole first class cabin, and I have the airline put "RESERVED FOR [picture of me]" signs on all the other seats.

Because when I check in I scan both tickets and they're always like who is traveling with you and I say they're both for me

And you can usually hear someone in group 5 making a comment. I've seen a huge increase in dirty looks since I started doing it a couple years ago
