I agree it was too long but the problem wasn't the ending. The ending wrapped up to quickly imo. The problem was the middle. Annie was at rock bottom. Then she was at rock bottom again. Then she was at rock bottom again.

The scene when they were finding bridesmaids dresses was not necessary and added no value, it was only for shock value. The writers deliberately neglected the male lead, he could have not been such a pushover jackass and participated in the story a bit more. I disagree with the critics that this is a 'good' movie, I would say that it is worth a buck at redbox, but nothing more.
That's not really fair re: the dress shop scene. It wasn't purely gratuitous puking and ****ting. It was driven by the comedy of Annie's character and her predicament. She was too cheap to go to a nice restaurant so she tried to play the "hole in the wall with amazing food" card, the consequences of which were everyone got sick in the worst possibly environment. What made it so funny was the ultimate low of the back alley restaurant clashing with the ultimate high of the appointment only dress shop in the most horribly embarrassing way. If someone had just gotten diarrhea in a fancy store for no reason it wouldn't have been nearly as funny.
Re: the male lead, yeah he was short shrifted but so what? Every movie must have equal time devoted to male and female characters? Did you walk out of the Hangover bitching about how there was no story line for the fiancee left at home? Some movies focus on men, some one women, some on both. Who cares?
