Can someone help me word this right....

Dear xXX,

This might be a little late, but I would really like to thank you for interviewing me. I believe my previous project management experience and customer service would translate well to this position, and I could be an asset to your company. Xxx(company) is just what I'm looking for in regards to size and culture, and I would love to be a part of the team. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,
MLYLT

I'm unsure if sending now is appropriate in the current situation.

Probably better than nothing but maybe someone else should chime in with an opinion?

Going forward you should be sending those automatically.

Dang....I didn't even think of it since he asked me to call two days after the interview.

Sending now makes you look super desperate imo.

What the hell, never heard of a thank you letter

So gross

Mlylt,

I'd drop the might be late part - makes it sound like you forgot and someone told you to do it.

Dear xXX,

I just spoke with xxx and it sounds like you'll be making a decision on the xxxx opening soon. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you again for interviewing me and reiterate my strong interest in the position.

I believe my previous project management and customer service experience would translate really well to this position. Xxx(company) is just what I'm looking for in regards to size and culture, and I would love to be a part of your team. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,

+1 to not acknowledging lateness. There's no perfect solution at this point, but sending something positive and unapologetic seems like the least bad option.

yep definitely

I'm not sure if in some professions sending thank you letters would be frowned upon, but in almost every "office-oriented" job, it is expected, and done as a courtesy.

How can you be intelligent enough to be well qualified for highly technical jobs that pay 80K - 90K+ per year, but be so incompetent with every day common sense stuff like sending a thank you letter for being granted an interview?
or realizing that its not cheating when a relationship has previously ended for that matter?

I wouldn't just blanket send a thank you note if you get rejected. If you are one of the final candidates or are genuinely interested in the job, then definitely. Also, probably not going to write one who doesn't have the courtesy to say if you didn't get the job.

That being said, with your experience and need of an income, you really should be writing thank you notes as much as possible in hopes someone might refer you to another company.

Remember the "ahem " you posted a little while ago? Well, ahem, ahem! You need to mellow out a bit on MLYLT IMO.

Nope, thread has cycled all the way back to "depressed about humanity." Checking out for a bit.

CodeSis3,

You seem very angry at mlylt. Is it because she broke up with your brother?

Also, what's the link to your podcast?

Thanks.

Ain't it the truth? So very sad--especially when considered with the recent contents of the other thread.

Pretty rare to see a gimmick account respond to its owner, but NDFan did it once a couple years ago so who knows what's going on.

Such a brave and controversial stance, yet again.
