It is! My dad is killer with birthday presents. You can't see it in the picture, but I also have the Telstar from this year on top of my sci-fi books.

Cool idea for a thread! Here are my anemic shelves after moving to a new country.

Hey, wasn't sure if this was the best place to post this. But I have a million dollar idea and was compelled to.

I heard some guy give a speech about the yellow smiley emblem and how it created a hysteria. How about a t-shirt that looks like

Front:
Take
me

Back:
Back?

Nice thread, Tuma. In your first pic, Simon Winchester is a favorite of mine.

I read a lot. Most of the books I have already read are packed away in boxes in the attic & spare room. The books on my shelves have been purchased, but I have not yet had time to get to them. It's a sickness.

From your posting in OTT during the last WC, I'm (pleasantly) surprised you either knew or cared about brazucas.

Bought a Kindle. Read one book on it. Put it in a drawer and forgot about it until I found it when we moved.

I'm with you on this one.

One of the bookshelves in my parents house. The rest are similarly overloaded.

I'm the complete opposite, bought 50 or 60 books the past few years and only 2 of them were physical copies. So much nicer for travel and reading at night.

Kindles are amazing. If you get the legit one and not like the fire, it really feels exactly the same as reading a book as far as the eyes are concerned. The experience isn't as satisfying, but it's close enough that the benefits of the kindle more than make up for it. If its a special book or one ive really been looking forward to reading, then Ill get a hard copy, but otherwise I kindle it.

Textbooks a physical copy is a must have tho, I always felt I learned better from a physical book, and then I saw a couple studies that supported that. The way your brain stores the info its actually better and you retain more from a real copy.
