If you go 5" smaller you can get a 4K TV, if that matters:

yeah that's really tempting, but the size is really important since the TV is 20' away from my couch. Not too concerned with 4K until sports start to broadcast 100% in 4K, and they will undoubtedly be cheaper when that time comes. Thanks though I hadn't seen that one yet.

Black Friday wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't for the fact the big corporations (most of them anyway) now open at 6pm on thanksgiving.

Gotta love people getting trampled for a 32 inch TV

We samsung now

Speaking from experience, it will be a better deal to buy a non-smart TV and get either Chromecast or Roku instead of finding a smart TV. I have an LG and really don't like the interface with Netflix. Hulu is okay. But in the end, I paid about $300 more for an inferior product.

If you are set on a smart TV, then Samsung will be your best option. Doubt you can get one that large for under $1000 though.

I agree the "smart" application on my Panasonic is pretty pathetic too. Probably better off just getting a chromecast for $30 and calling it a day, plus you can carry the chromecast and your netflix subscription etc. with you, if you go to your parents or friends house.

I just linked a 60" smart 4K for under 1K if retailers are offering something like that for under 1K no doubt he will get a regular 65" HD tv for under 1K.

Think it'll be possible to get around a 45'' 1080/120 TV for under $300? or is that gonna be pushing it

Yeah, Smart TVs are great! If you don't already have an Xbox, or a Play Station, or a Wii, or a smart dvd/blu ray player, or a Tivo, or a Chromecast or any of the other myriad options to get Netflix et al. onto your TV.

Edit: Heh, OP even wants an Xbox to go with his new TV. Getting a smart TV on top of an Xbox is completely pointless. Unfotunately, you almost have to buy a smart TV nowadays.
