Dc has some exceptional bike trails the Rock Creek trail runs from silver spring right into downtown, there's also a big trail that runs down through the airport south into VA, you can't stop the bicycle only hope to contain.

Just be like Minneapolis and take all of your roads and give half of the road surface area to bike lanes. Over the past 5-10 years I've seen countless 2 and 3 lane one ways reduced to 1 lane with the bikers getting a ****ing 12 foot lane to themselves. The mayor or city council are obsessed with being the most bike friendly city in the country and people can only ride bikes here for 8 months out of the year, it's a joke

Fun fact: Metro Transit Police told me that this isn't actually law. While the law does prohibit all the stuff you see on signs, e.g., food, drink, listening to music without headphones, etc., bikes are technically not illegal during peak times.

Metro employees are encouraged to stop bikes from entering the system during peak times if they see it, but they don't have any real authority to do so.

Used those two trails on a bicycle tour they were great, get what your saying not exactly the most challenging of roads but sure glad they exist oh and the Chesapeake canal path is great too ends in Georgetown, rode that and Alleghany Rail trail all the way from McKeesport. The irony is bikes have been around longer than automobiles not going anywhere and are much more efficient than combustion battery powered vehicles. Last post for me here, it was supposed to be about the cyclist that got hit in Miami.

What percentage of people who currently have a 15-20 minute commute do you think will start biking to work if you give them beautiful separated bike lanes? I suspect a lot of the new cyclists would be people who don't drive much anyway and switch to biking from transit, and that many of the people who are comfortable commuting an hour a day by bike already do it with or without bike lanes.

Do you understand how traffic works? How traffic gets backed up despite no accidents? Do you understand what happens when a single car slows down and how it effects every car behind it?
