In Florida, every Trump voting redneck with a pickup truck thinks he is a Pit Master... it is definitely the god awful pulled pork capital of the world imho. food truck wise, it seems like everyone sells it.

However, cuban pulled pork is really amazing with some yellow rice and red beans.

Pardon my prior ignorance. Bisque you say? Well that changes everything my good man!

Pacific hearty tomato bisque. Try it.

Actually I have had that exact Pacific brand box of warm ketchup with tomato chunks before. My wife is very persistent and tries to force feed me a different type about once a year or so, thinking if I just try one more I'll suddenly love it. And I stand by my assessment.

Awful!

Nobody heats up a bowl of mustard and tries to pass it off as a refined cup of vinegar and mustard seed chowder do they? How about a nice steaming sophisticated bowl of mayo potage?
No, they don't, so let's not do it with ketchup either.

Absolutely, the nerds on this site wouldn't know what to say to a fried chicken sandwich.

Thanks El D! Based on the slim lead over chicken parm, I don't think banh mi is going to fare as well as it should here. I guess it suffers from lack of attainability? Here in Minneapolis, there are plenty of good options for banh mi, but I think the MSP area is a little bit of an outlier due to having a large Hmong population and it's hard to get a good banh mi if you're not on the West Coast.

It's also not very photogenic- nobody really cuts a banh mi in half so you can see a cross section, AFAIK. I was in Vietnam for three weeks last year, but I don't have any good banh mi pics (unlike say pho).

Is that a fatty sauce in addition to the pate? That sounds glorious!

Sure, but I don't think most people would consider pickles on pulled pork to be standard. In my mind, a pulled pork sandwich has a vinegary coleslaw and a mustardy bbq sauce. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I went 4/4 on picking the loser. I guess that means I have discriminating tastes.

I think this whole discussion about hot ketchup is doing bad things for grilled cheese.

Disappointed that you didn't nominate the Ozark Squirrel & Ketchup Sandwich. Woulda been good competition for breakfast sandwich!

Obv. fake. Nobody drinks Corona with squirrel.

No decent Ozarker would take a pitcher of it anyway. They don't have no truck with the Devil's kool-aid. At least officially. Co-cola is OK.

That picture is obviously in the desert so probably some West Texas heathens.

How about a side of fries and the obligatory dousing in ketchup to go with that?
This at least puts an end to the usefulness of ketchup debate.

I agree with this when ordering one in an unknown place--and imo pulled pork sandwiches are #1.

But when you find a place that makes good ones, they are exquisite!

I also feel like Corona isn't the #1 choice of beer in the Ozarks.

I'm enjoying the Ozark/squirrel truther posts. Corona fuel can't melt squirrel meat!

I apologize for the disconnect in my post, I didn't mean for that to be a representative Ozark sandwich. I simply made a comment based off of Chip's post, and then added the first squirrel sandwich pic I saw on Google. I in no way meant to disparage the fine squirrel sandwiches that the people of the Ozarks may or may not make, which must undoubtedly be better than the version in the pic I posted. I mean, the Ozark ones probably at least have some grill marks on the squirrels.

Squirrel brains are considered a delicacy and often reserved for old people who scramble them in eggs.

A quick Google will show that the state of Kentucky is actively campaigning to halt this practice due to Crecreutzfeldt Jakob disease.

Generally the meat is stewed because it's tough as ****.

Budweiser products are the beer of choice for Arky Ozarkers. Partly due to marketing and partly because Arkansas is a major supplier of rice to AB. "Make mine Budweiser, brewed with Arkansas rice" is a bumper sticker that can be seen on heathen pickup trucks.

Of course rice is grown in the Delta, aka Flatlands, and the discriminating hill man don't have no truck with them crazy folks, so I guess state trumps regional loyalty in this regard.

Thanks for the info Chip. After further investigation, it appears that the pic that I posted is from lol Oregon. If those West Coast varmint hunters think they can hold a candle to the fine Arky Ozarkers, then they're out of their squirrel-lovin' minds!

patron,

My pleasure sir.

I recommend John Grisham's novel 'A Painted House' for further reading on this topic.
