You know, there are different sects of Judaism. Some allow you to eat meat w/ milk while others do not. Some sects allow you to eat pork and shell fish.
My old employers were ultra-orthodox and probably what you'd consider "legit." You'd probably guess they were Israeli, but they were actually Persian and spoke Farsi.
I always considered a Reuben Irish. Even if it's originally Jewish (non-Kosher), the Irish are strongly associated with the sandwich in the Midwest, and thus you can excuse some people's poor understanding of the topic. Apparently, it's Irish enough that the trend reaches all of LA, where they don't even acknowledge St. Patrick's Day really.
