It's literally the same sandwich except chopped steak >>> deli meat, roll >>> rye bread, grilled onions >>> sauerkraut, and melted cheese >>> bitter cheese that doesn't melt as well.

Of all the sandwiches that started in this contest the reuben would very probably be my very last choice

Man is this a representative opinion of the silent majority of cheeeeesesteak voters? Such a bad take. Corned beef and plain steak are markedly different, as are sauerkraut and plain onions. Cheeeeeesesteak and Reuben have significantly different flavor profiles.

I'm sure most never had a reuben at a true Irish bar or restaurant, therefore, the entire poll is a sham.

Cheesesteak gaining on Reuben today!

This has me wondering how cheesesteak would have fared against pastrami.

Reuben voters - would any of you have gone cheesesteak over pastrami?

Look, cheesesteak has had a nice run. I even voted for it a couple times because banh mi is a shameful hole in my sandwich game and lol breakfast sandwich, but come on, it can't compete against a reuben. And don't take my word for it.

Pastrami has the same problem as a reuben. It is hard to find, readily available, good pickled meat in a lot of cities. If the voting was based on best option available it would be pastrami on rye no cheese with mustard>cheeesteak >reuben.

Kenji is brilliant, but he thinks that his sous vide "bbq" brisket is comparable to real bbq brisket. So even he makes mistakes.
