Hey, I did a search but couldn't really find anything helpful

I am looking for a new PC chair

Any suggestions?

I am tall (188cm) and trained with wide shoulders

Right now I am looking into the

DXracer King series: https://www.dxracer.com/us/en-us/pro...s/king_series/

And clutch chairz: https://usa.clutchchairz.com/product...rottle-series/

and it feels like it is the same chair?!? (from the same manufacteurer?!)

Any other good suggestions?

Kind regards

If you open the advanced search function, put "chair" in the search tab and select to search in the thread title only, you'll get to this thread:

These are new to me, but from what I'm seeing: You take a very nice office chair, f*** it up with some ****ty childish graphics, and you've got yourself a gaming chair.

lol, more hate pls...

Obviously they are marketed to internet gaming twitch and youtube kids but I like the idea of adjustable arm support, the lumbar spine pillow, neck support etc.

I am open for suggestions but couldn't rly find other options and I am not willing to spend 500+ on a chair + I am very tall and need room for my legs and shoulders.

Did you check the thread I linked?

Side note: if you say "best chair", people will think "best chair" and not "best chair under $50" or "best chair under $500". Therefore you should ask for a chair that fits your budget so nobody has to bother mentioning Herman Miller or similar expensive options.

Gaming chairs are mostly trash, and those that are decent are way overpriced.

Been very happy with my Wilkhahn ON for many years now. Herman Miller obviously very nice too if you can afford it.

In the much cheaper but still great category, I had a $300 Ikea Markus I kept for 10 years before my Wilkhahn. Was an older model though, not sure how good the current ones are.

No matter what chair you pick the hydraulics will eventually fail. Just find something comfortable for $100 and go with that and then replace it in 3 years.

I've had chairs like this at work. The company that I work for purchases them for all employees and has a high regard for ergonomics.

If you're going to sit in a chair for many hours a day, you want a chair that breathes. "Gamer" chairs are a recipe for smelly sweaty times.

Get a mesh back chair. An Aeron doesn't have any head and neck support, but plenty of clones do.

I finally bought something other than a $200 office max chair that I have to replace every 2 years. I couldn't bring myself to spend the money on a Aeron, so after a bunch of research I went with a gaming chair. It's got a 5 year warranty and it's a lot more comfortable than one of those office max jobs. I feel like a good gaming chair is the best intersection of value and support/comfort

If you live near a metro area, find a used office furniture dealer and you can scoop lightly used Aeron's for 300-400. Got myself a super lightly used Steelcase leap V2 for 250 at the start of WFH.

I got a fully decked out leather leap v2 for $200 when a local liquidator was trying to get rid of 100 of them, most of them looked like no one ever sat on them

that was about 6-7 years ago, should easily last 20+ years or until v3 comes out

Or just get a quality chair and replace the cylinder when it fails.

I've had my Steelcase Leap for 8+ years now, and a cylinder replacement is like $25-$40 (replaced once so far).

I did a bunch of research a few months ago and it seemed the Steelcase Leap was consensus best(if price is no obstacle). I settled for the Steelcase Series 1 and am happy with that.
Free alpha: If you buy a chair from the Steelcase website, they ask if you have a discount code at checkout, so I messaged support asking for a code, and they gave me one for 10% off.

In a previous reply I stated that I used one at work.

Since that last post, I have been working from home and purchased one for home as well.

Most working days I probably sit in my chair for 9+ hours. It's a great chair.

I bought a "knock off" version for like $500 and it wasn't the same as buying a legit Steelcase. My wife now uses the knock off because she only sits for 2-3 hours a day on it at most.

O
Very good point about time spent in the chair mattering. Iirc, that's what made me settle for the Series 1 @ ~1/2 the price of the Leap. I only use the chair for poker which for me is roughly 3-4 hrs / day split across 3 sessions.

I just picked up the Herman Miller Aeron, and so far I can say it's a great chair and definitely recommend it. The Herman Miller Embody was also comfortable at the store.

After years with an Aeron, the only complaint I have is that the arm rests are trash in one specific way: they won't lock out side to side rotation. So I get them nicely positioned and comfortable, and within 10 minutes I accidentally move them out of position and I'm annoyed that my elbow lost the support it had. If they would just stay in one place without moving around I'd love it.

Also - I really don't understand why chairs are designed to be easily and quickly adjustable. They should clearly be adjustable, but static after adjustment and probably not easily readjusted. It's not like you share your chair - even in the workplace, so why do you need to raise and lower the seat all the damn time? Makes no sense to me.

Not sure what you're asking. By "gaming chair" do you mean whatever crap they sell as "gaming chairs" that are $150-$500 that are actually garbage, or $1k+ actually good office chairs that one could use for gaming?

"Gaming Chair" answer: Kids don't know any better and you can therefore get $200 for a $30 chair.

"Real Chair" answer: If you look at what replacement chairs cost for a "new car", they're in the same ballpark that you seem to think is unreasonable.
