If you dislike sweet flavors, I can totally understand not liking Krave jerky. But I'm surprised that anyone would hate the texture. It is by far the most consistently tender jerky I've tried. Most other brands I've had are a total crapshoot as to whether you are going to get something good or something almost inedibly hard and dry.

IMO, some of the best jerky i've ever tasted has been atleast "hard" (or tough) and a few have been both "hard and dry". I'm not a fan of the moist, soft beef jerky. For instance - Jack Links, imo is moist and soft.

However, there isn't many brands of beef jerky that I wont eat. I love beef jerky and will eat a variety if there is nothing else available.

Insert obvious joke about the sodium content of jerky

This thread convinced me to buy some beef jerky in my routine weekly shop. Some local branded jerky. Good work OP.

I have done exactly the same but I had to go with Wild West Beef Jerky due to my local supermarket only having that one option in stock. After all the nice things in this thread I hope I like it. I can't see why not, may have to buy online going forward though if I do!

If I wanted a soft beef stick, I'd buy a Slim Jim. Jerky that's chewy is perfectly fine and, for me, preferred.

Surprised that people take issue with the texture of krave so much. There is generally a bit too much sugar for my taste so I prefer the spicier flavors but for me the texture is a positive. To each their own I suppose.

So I just tried my first bag of Beef Jerky, at first I liked it, then a smokey aftertaste kicked in and I wasn't so keen. However then I realised as I was browsing 2+2 I was snacking away on the rest of the pack.

I get the impressions the brand I brought (Wild West) may not be the best so I may source something better online and maybe try some different flavours, honey BBQ certainly sounds tasty.

One thing eating the beef jerky did remind me off was eating Bakkwa in Singapore which I haven't had for a few year's, I am definitely going to try and find some in London as I remember really liking Bakkwa!

Anyone else tried Bakkwa & Beef Jerky recently and can compare?

Bookmarking this since I'm going to make some more jerky soon. Last time I made some, the flavor was great, but I couldn't get home til like 4 hours after I should've removed them from the dehydrator. They were basically jerky brittle.

Dehydrator recommendations? Everything on Amazon has great reviews. Which type is best for beef jerky?

Tried the black pepper& garlic. Smell and texture are great. Tastes good but I feel other flavors might be better

Bobboufl,

I've never tried either of the flavors you got so I can't comment on those. I don't like many flavors with beef jerky. I like the original beefy flavor, that's why I stick to peppered or original when buying jerky.

Their original is amazing and if you like hot stuff, their fiery hot is dank! I usually order an lb of each and usually always get at least one in "fatty". I also haven't tried their steak fries or slabs.

Has anyone had any luck with good bacon jerky products? Or making it on their own? Are these all scams to try to monetize the bacon craze?

Thanks!

Have you tried Bundu Original Beef Biltong from Sainsburys? These stats look pretty impressive, although I don't know much about the ingredients... Contains MSG. Thoughts?

Found these from MyProtein, low sugar and no MSG. Also quite good value with the 3 for 2 offer they have on right now, working out at £3.33/100g.

Do any restaurants serve beef jerky? Just never really see it on the menu. I know it's not a meal type food obviously, but maybe an appetizer of sorts?
