Beef Jerky! Beef Jerky!

I searched for a recent thread about beef jerky but surprisingly couldn't find anything. I love beef jerky but I don't care for how expensive most of it is. Say what you will but 6 or 7 bucks isn't exactly cheap for a snack when a bag of chips can run you a dollar or so. I'm always on the look out for decently priced good tasting beef jerky. Jack Links is good and the most available (and popular??) but overpriced in my opinion.

I bought a few bags of this the other day because it was significantly cheaper than Jack Links at 3.50 a bag. Wasn't bad for the price and you can really taste the bbq sauce flavor.

I also buy this on occasion but have not seen it for less than like 5 bucks in your standard 3.5 oz. bag or whatever.

I have not branched out and tried a lot of different flavors or brands so I'm a total beef jerky noob I guess.

Anyone have any recommendations for decently priced delicious beef jerky? Online or in-store?

OP, have you considered buying a dehydrator and making your own jerky at home? Pretty simple preparation, cooks over night and you can flavor it to your liking.

No, I haven't. Is that what you do? Any recommendations on a dehydrator?

This stuff is the nuts. Not hard like reg jerky and super tasty/juicy. I get it at Costco. I think its $11 but there is a lot in the bag.

My uncle has a good hookup for venison jerky and pepperoni. Every year he has a bunch for me when I visit.

When I was 14, my best friend's dad make 2 trash bags full of venison jerky after a very successful hunt. I might've ate 1 of those bags myself over a weekend. So goddamn good!!

Deer jerky is hands down the best! I used to hunt quite often but haven't been in a few years. We would always make a few lbs of it every deer we harvested. Man, I miss that stuff.

This is the best I've tasted and it has a lot less added sugar than the majority of jerky you can buy from stores.

I once bought 100 Slim Jims off Amazon, and they arrived the day before Randy "Macho Man" Savage died. spooky

if you're a beef jerky lover, you should really give biltong a try. it's South African style dried beef, and in my opinion, it is far far better than any beef jerky i've tried.

Big johns is amazing! Try their "fatty" jerky too, if you order. It's the same flavors just has some fat on it.

you can build a biltong box easy with plywood and a lightbulb!

you can even make jerky in any oven you own: set it to the lowest setting it will turn on, about 170-200F and leave the door cracked. put the meat on a rack, or directly on the oven rack. done in 5-6 hours or when it will just start to crack when you bend it.

Marinade flavors are limitless, there's tons of recipes on the internet.

there's a Get Fuzzy comic where Bucky talks about hunting tofu in the wild.

I wanted to link to it, but I couldn't find it.
