SS,

And Your Bird Can Sing into For No One is such a great combo, definitely agree about that song. Top 10-15ish song into top 1 song

When I was a DJ one night I had a gig at a redneck biker bar outside town.

The security guy got into a fight with a patron. Was pretty involved, rolling around, knocking barstools over

I switched from playing rock over to "All You Need Is Love."

Got a few laughs at the end

If he was comparing Oasis with, say, the Dave Clark Five, or, perhaps, Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich (who sold more singles in Germany in 1966 than the Beatles, plus Dave Dee has legendary status as the police cadet who attended the scene of Eddie Cochran's fatal road accident on the A4 at Chippenham, in which Gene Vincent was also seriously injured but survived), that might work, but comparing yourself with the Beatles is just going to make you look silly.

yep

In 1996 Oasis played two shows with an audience of 125,000 per night. Over 2.5 million people applied for tickets for the shows, making it the largest ever demand for concert tickets in British history.

One good album (the first) does not a great band make.

Also lol Audience sizes

cf Coldplay - one of the worst so-called "good bands" of all time.

In the 60s and 70s disposable income was severely limited, and audience sizes smaller.

I was in my twenties when they were big. I didn't care for them then, and I can't even remember one of their songs now.

Don't forget The Monkees, they outsold The Beatles in 1967.

Yeah not a fan of Oasis. Music was mediocre and obv both Gallaghers being prize ***** didn't help.

liam's voice started to go as early as '97 and went completely up the wall circa '02, but the live stuff prior to '97 is unbeatable

Not in my opinion.

I have followed music since the mid-sixties. Grew from Beatles pop to Black Sabbath/Grand Funk/Led Zep etc rock to grunge to blues. (I passed over disco, hair-band, rap, heavy). I have over 750G of digitized music. Never felt the need to add Oasis....never really heard of them. Are they primarily AM pop?

I did like the one quote from one of the brothers (I never know which one is who) on Uptown Funk: "If songs were color, this one would be beige."

Oasis had some good tunes. Their first few albums are good, then after that they got tedious. Ironically, my favorite song my them is this one:

If you weren't around yet when Beatlemania was happening it is very hard to understand. We will never see that again as the musical genres have become too diverse. I grew up on The Beatles and clearly believe they are the best ever. But … but music is probably the most generational art form there is. As I have matured I have acquired tastes for music before my time and there is the occasional newer artist I like but for the most part I am stuck in the 60's and 70's for my musical enjoyment and entertainment.

The Beatles have and will continue to pass the test of time. Most bands won't or haven't. Oasis for example, I couldn't tell you one song they ever did?
