If he was comparing Oasis with, say, the Dave Clark Five, or, perhaps, Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich (who sold more singles in Germany in 1966 than the Beatles, plus Dave Dee has legendary status as the police cadet who attended the scene of Eddie Cochran's fatal road accident on the A4 at Chippenham, in which Gene Vincent was also seriously injured but survived), that might work, but comparing yourself with the Beatles is just going to make you look silly.
