1) Had the real bad habit of not paying cash for my vehicles. Would always finance, and even leased a few times. I finally took a stand somewhat recently, and vowed that I would pay cash for my next car at the end of my lease. I did it, and it felt great, and it is amazingly how little money you want to spend, when you are jettisoning all of the payment at once, out of your bank account. I will not be leasing or financing again.

2) Bad and unattractive habit of biting my nails all my life. Somehow quit cold turkey in 2011 when I had a somewhat shocking high pressure life event. I recall using that shake up as fuel to try to quit a few things, and ended up quitting the ugly habit. But I think I may have a bit of a habit of picking my nails now. There was a time, when I was biting my nails, that I had never used nail clippers on my fingers (Not that I recall).

3) Quit drinking after getting multiple infractions a long time ago. Scared straight in a way. I remember having a calendar on the wall, and putting a checkmark on each day, trying to go a full month. I may have stumbled on the first attempt, and had to start over, but when I got through 30 days I kinda knew I was done, and at 60 days I knew for sure, with not even ten seconds of sweating it in the years since.

4) I used to really get worked up when I heard lazy religious references from politicians and athletes, or people in the media (after tragedies, for example). I somehow got away from that, and am pretty much cured, which makes life more fun. Not that I am religious, but I was approaching it from a stone cold rational approach (Sam Harris or Christopher Hitchens), as if these people were frauds, liars, or idiots, because they couldn't possibly believe that the bible was the word of God.

Once I realized that most don't really believe it, and that it really isn't sinister or ignorance by most, and the bible is just a collection of man made stories, some of which can be of help to even a hardcore non believer, it lightened up the load I was carrying, and made life more fun, as I am not bothered too much any more. In fact, there are even one or two somewhat religious people whom I respect, with Jordan Peterson being number one, and maybe even number two.

Watch how I do this. Not only will I not start threads, but I will not post. I'm a superstar when I get in free flow mode, but I also like to shut things down for no real reason. Sometimes I need a boost to change gears. Watch and learn as I exit the premises. The discipline to not post has arrived.

Just noticed that I forgot the "in" in eliminated. Over and out.

I think this is a decent idea for a thread. 2P2 is possibly my worst habit and I've clearly yet to eliminate it...

I noticed I was saying "got" instead of "have" and that it made me sound like a hill billy. Fixed it by always saying "have" after I mistakenly said "got." Only downside is that I notice when other's say "got" much more often.

Spending too much time on internet forums is a habit I really need to kick. It's my main method of procrastination.

I used to watch the David Letterman show every night. I stopped after it went odd the air. Best decision I ever made. That show was terrible.

Drinking coffee every day.

Have had less than 5 coffees in the last 15 years.

Unfortunately replaced it 5 years ago with almost daily Monsters, so I guess that is the next one.

(1a) Reading too many books at once.
(1b) Continuing with meh/ok books after page ~30 (or, let's say 1 hour, depending on page density and/or effort density of the content.)

(2) Facebook, Reddit, meme accounts on Twitter+Instagram. But still have yet to abandon 2+2. Meh. Just joined snapchat, so, clearly just replacing one internet dopamine source with another.
