The great thing about 8-tracks, when they first came out, was that they were the only way you could play music in your car that wasn't on the radio and it was a 'wowzer!' technology to us kids. Of course there'd be breaks right in the middle of songs but that was something that had to be put up w/. Then came cassettes, much better.
I guess a kid listening to 8-tracks now is trying to be retro. Tie-dyed shirts and bell bottom jeans to follow. Just hope he doesn't come up w/ an 'Earth Mother' gf.
