You are correct on all points, but I would ask them that they give you your full deposit back AT the final walk-through, in the name of good faith.

As long as you appropriately patched up the bad beat holes in the wall, of course.

I was just enjoying some chips and a jar of salsa, and ran out of full-sized chips. Rather than suffer the inconvenience of dealing with the smaller scraps left in the bag, I threw them away and opened a new bag. Rarely in my life have I felt like such a baller.

I don't think giving renters money to leave is standard but landlords do it for problem tentents like your friends to keep them from stealing the copper and stuff.

Spoiler:
a baller gourmand would have crushed up those inferior chips, poured them in the salsa and used the fresh chips to eat them.

I've done that with queso but not salsa. I also used a spoon or my fingers instead of opening up the new bag of chips. More utilitarian than baller tho.

I know they are going to say no to that.....I asked if we could not have the carpets professionally cleaned since they are going to sell and only a fool would put it on the market without new carpet and paint, and the owner said no. I don't actually think they are going to sell it, which is annoying they'd lie about it, but whatever, its their house.

I should go back and read the original lease and see what actually transfers to the month to month

hah, wow, I don't think they are the type, but it is interesting they think that's standard if that's the case

Re: ***Augustus Caesar Blade LC Thread***

Wow Mr. 27offsuit. I'm glad everything is ok. I can relate. It is a scary situation when trees are falling around your property. You are in the Boston area right? Was it a big wind storm or?

Several years ago I lived in a small bungalow about one mile away form the mighty Fraser River that starts in Vancouver. Or finishes depending on the way you look at it.

I lived in a little country home very close to the river about one hour out of Vancouver. The closeness to the river, as I found out resulted in a very high water line on my property which weakened tree roots. I had some big cedars in the back of the house that provided a bit of a wind break.

My 2 year daughter had the back bedroom on the north side of the house. We had a huge windstorm on what is essentially a prairie type area. Flat land mainly filled by pig, chicken and dairy farms. Google Greendale BC and you will see the area.

Anyhow a giant cedar tree fell inches from my daughters bedroom in the middle of the night. It was rather frightening. The root itself was probably 8 feet tall once vertical and it left a huge deep hot tub size hole in the ground. No one was hurt and all was good. My good old Canadian boys who I played hockey with showed up the next weekend and we had a chop up party. All ended good and I ended up with lots of firewood.

Not good.

Totally legit if you're month to month. Read your lease and see if an email is equal to "written notice".

These people are stupid. Read your lease, and have a lawyer read your lease.

My guess is that you're screwed.

However, in most states, eviction is a process that can take months. Use that to your advantage, but find a new place soon.
