Tombstone seems actually highly overrated.

Saw Unforgiven on a plane recently, still good.

Yeah, it’s ok to really like Tombstone. It was a good movie. But not even in the discussion for best western. It’s not even the best contemporary western.

Unforgiven is eminently rewatchable.

Three favorites in no particular order are Unforgiven, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, and Once Upon A Time In The West.

I haven't seen Once Upon A Time beginning-to-end in a long, long time, but there are so many great scenes and the way the soundtrack is woven into the story is terrific.

"Looks like we're shy one horse."
"You brought two too many."

Also love casting Henry Fonda as a villain.

This. The story I've heard (sorry if it's been mentioned before) that Fonda asked Leone if he should wear colored contacts, or have some makeup to be less recognizable.

Supposedly, Leone said no, he wanted the audience to know exactly who it was that fired the shot. Kindly old Henry.

You know which shot.

Re: Unforgiven, I've long thought the only way it could've been better was if they'd gotten lucky during filming. In the scene where Munny and the kid find out Ned's dead.

If there would've been an actual storm in the distance when Munny grabs the bottle from the kid that would've been great.

'Cause a storm was brewing, and it's going to be a bad one.

Tombstone has a couple of things going for it: It is enjoyable and is easily rewatchable.

Silverado falls in that category as well imo as does Cat Ballou.

A lot of the best westerns (not the motel chain) are not that much fun to watch more than once or twice imo.

Is Lonesome Dove a Western? Give me a bottle of whiskey with nothing to do for the day or next day and I am set.

“Yeah.”

Quite a 1-2 punch.

Of all the stuff put out every year, how much of it do you like a few years down the road. Good stuff is really good, but in the universe of all stuff, there's not much of it.

Alternatively, you just consume shitty media.

The Searchers is probably no. 1 for me.

You're lucky that 100-shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake. now me and the mad scientist are going to have to rip apart the block, and replace the donut rings you fried.

Clint Eastwood is a terrible actor but a great director of actors himself included. He knows he’s not a strong actor but the limited lines he has work well to his strong suits.

I don’t think they make these in manuals which means my 120HP diesel manual Jetta is more of a man’s car than any challenger.

watched Grand Torino again a couple of night ago.
i've seen it several times, but i'm not exactly sure how to sum it up.

My GOAT western is the original The Magnificent Seven.

Ken Burns' documentary on the Mayo Clinic is awesome. A little bit Western at times.

Love a good Western. Sundance was good, those trackers relentless
