I have a rewards points versus gas points issue that recently came up.
My grocery story has always done gas points. My parents let me use theirs starting when I was 16. I went out on my own gas points when I moved out and for many many years ran them up to $1+ off a gallon then filled up my tank.
My grocery store recently introduced a points system where it’s either gas discount or cash credit at the register like you said. I also recently purchased a new car with a ten gallon gas tank.
This last round I had $1.20 off a gallon with a bit less than a gallon in the tank. At the pump I saved $11 and change. But I remember a few days before the cash register at the grocery store asked me if I wanted to take $15! off my order. That’s a pretty big gap between gas credit vs rewards points.
But I love those gas points. Something about paying a dollar a gallon does it for me. So it’s an issue
