I am home sick with a sore throat today. It is difficult to talk.
08-03-2015 , 11:48 AM
I was wondering what was up with you.

Half the fun for me in live poker these days is making fun of players at the table who choose to be dickheads.

What do you guys think about wallets ? I've had this one for a while and is really in need of replacement (had it for like 8 years or something). I was going to go for a similar leather one, possibly brown this time but I see all these people rocking hard cover card things or moneyclip kind of items but without the money and just cards. I almost never have cash with me but would like there to be a possibility for me to still carry it comfortably, so basically, what does your wallet look like/any advice ?

that wallet looks pretty worn out

check Amazon, they have tons of wallets on there

might give you an idea or two since you are not sure what you are wanting for your next one

yak,

This has been my wallet for the last 3-4 years. It's basically perfect.

Yak, there was a good OOT thread on wallets a few years back. The thread was started by Dids IIRC and had the term "butch lesbians" in the title.

Link to thread.

Thanks ET, definitely will have a look.

This looks really good but how many cards are you carrying around in that thing ? Also, the magnetic thing is supposed to hold cash mannies ? Any way to store coins in that thing ? Im so used to having this bulky ass thing with me that I feel like some inner panic wrt it being so small but maybe its time to grow up and just go with it.

FWIW, always carry it in the right back pocket of my pants.

Yak,

Slimmer wallet in the front pocket is the way to go. I used to be like you but once I moved to front pocket I never looked back. So much better for your back and you get rid of a bunch of cards that you don't really need. The only problem is carrying coins, which is not a thing in the US, but you Euros do actually carry coins that have some value.

Yak: I use one of these http://www.tumi.com/p/money-clip-car...ID?subcat=true
edit: I carry the following ATM card, personal credit card, business credit card, driver's license, Zipcard (carshare), Clipper card (transit) - all of those are credit card thickness in the front pockets. In the middle pouch I keep my insurance card (paper thickness) and two business cards (I basically never use business cards). In the back clip I keep a few emergency hundred dollar bills, but my day to day cash I carry in a moneyclip something like this http://www.amazon.com/Sterling-Silve.../dp/B0002E47IA There's no coin-carrying ability in the cardcase.

Falcon, kiosh: Actually, this summer has been unseasonably warm for SF! But mid-August through mid-October is when it's warmest here.

I stayed out also. It's a tough call, IMO. At my age, it's obviously not an issue for me anymore, but I've seen this happen. Some women are uncomfortable. Some enjoy the attention, or seem to. Some actually exploit the situation.

Personally, I was along the lines of handling it myself, immediately. "Touch me again and you'll get that hand back with no fingers."

One thing a man like this can't handle well is being embarrassed in front of other men. It's a shame that some women feel stressed out about this. Anything that I would see as egregious, I'd report.

Total contents of wallet:
3 credit cards, one in each of the front sleeves
Health insurance and car insurance in middle "pocket"
Driver's License, transit card, botanical garden membership card and coffee place punch card in the back sleeve
Various bills in the magnetics clip

I've had probably twice as many cards in my wallet at times before, but stopped carrying a bunch of stuff around regularly.

I would guess that you can store coins in that center pocket type thing, but I've never done it. I definitely thought about the need for coin storage on my recent trip to Europe since it seemed like most people had some kind of change purse to handle all the 1 and 2 euro coins.

Im going to investigate, Im reluctant wrt the money clips just because Im not used to them I guess, seems so careless to just have them 'clipped' by a magnet instead of tucked away deep down in my wallet. I never actually carry cash any more so might have to recalibrate the coins/cash thing and maybe just go for a sleek one.

Have you considered augmenting your wallet space with one of those folio phone cases?

I quit on wallets back in the late 90s, doing just fine ever since.
08-03-2015 , 07:33 PM
i didn't use a wallet for many many years (just had a random assortment of cards and notes in a pocket). last year i started using this:

http://www.amazon.com/AlpineSwiss-Le...ds=card+wallet

i like it, though yesterday i thought i had lost it and was bemoaning the fact that wallets allow you to lose everything important in one fell swoop.

i carry cash separately or not at all. yak, this looks solid if you want to carry cash in the same thing:

Btw, didn't get a chance to commend you on your outstanding initial post itt!

ED - tyvm

I'm in Prague for a few days. First time I've been to Czech Republic. They treat beer like a mandatory food item. When you order food, it is not if you want a beer or not, it is just which one do you want and of what size. I haven't seen a bottle that costs more than $1.20USD, including imports.

A Czech told me that pretty much all neighborhood restaurants are sponsored by one brewery or another.

Back pockets are the easiest to pickpocket from.

I just use a money clip, but I mostly spend cash. Total contents of "wallet": one credit card, one oyster card, one membership card, 3 business cards, cash.

27,

Hmm, looks like you were able to get your ATF thread closed.

What is the most appropriate thread now in which to post a list of your worst insults and personal vendettas?

That bjsmith guy is the worst. He is always unbearable.

Yak,

Castelijn & Beerens wallet? I love those, I have a sleek brown one.

Dispensed with the wallet years ago. Contents of pocket = maybe 200 in cash, debit card....err that's it.

Whenever I get home any loose change goes into a bucket, I haven't emptied this for maybe 5 years, so hopefully there's a pretty good sum in there by now.
08-04-2015 , 05:11 AM
Still a big fan of the wallet and only carry a money clip if I have a lot of cash on me. Buy the smallest two fold? fold in half? non tri fold wallet you can find imo.
