It's very unfortunate that any woman that posts on a poker forum will be met with a lot of skepticism. On one hand I can understand being a skeptic because a lot of people have mis-represented themselves as female in the past, but on the other hand how many of us read these forums to meet ladies? I could understand hardcore skepticism if this was a dating site, but this is a poker forum, shouldn't we be judging people based on their ability to be entertaining, interesting, or likeable in their posts?

Anyway I am new to the forums like the people you described that wouldn't understand the scrutiny you have dealt with in the past. I honestly don't think that would be an issue for you though, everyone at the party was extremely nice, it was just a bunch of people hanging out and drinking having a good time from what I saw, and I was there despite the lack of photographical evidence.

Just goes to show how clueless a lot of guys on internet forums can be. Way to chase away the ladies.

Seriously tho, I agree with the sentiment that this should be a meritocracy, where personality and smarts are the keys.

Also, I rather enjoy talking like where I'm from. Regional speech is one of those great old-fashioned spices of life that's being mercilessly ground out of existence by mass media culture. Plus, as you no doubt well know, chicks dig any unfamiliar accent, so as long as you're not in the South, sounding Southern works out pretty well. I'm pretty sure I got you beat on the southern drawl. And it doesn't play to well for me out of the South. Years ago I was in Denver (Rock Bottom Brewery) with a friend. After ordering our beverages, I happened to walk by our hottie waitress en route to bathroom and overheard her say to her friend "..yeah, they're cute but they're redneck."
Ouch. Whore.

And I will occasionally throw some gems out there like "I ain't got no" and "There ain't no way"(to which you can add "in hell"). I wonder if this would be the cockney equivalent.

I'm not saying it's bad or less attractive, I just always thought you had a really heavy "twang" like she does.

I think it came from a thread way back when where you said you had a heavy drawl. Can't really hear the clip all that well, but you sound like a normal Yankee to me.

And you don't have that "everyone look at me, I'm a Southern Belle" laugh.

Oh ok. People always assume I'll have a southern accent because I grew up in Georgia. But I don't really have one. I'm kind of happy about it.

Ha, here's my funny story: I saw the line for OU-UT (-12 1/2) and thought "Texas has looked ugly this year, no way OU doesn't cover". So I went on Bodog and put my remaining $24.86 on the game. Needless to say, when my friends found this out, I became public enemy #1. Of course, not only did UT lose, making all of them angry/sad, but OU didn't even cover. So I got the worst of both worlds! Wheeeeee.
