The only reason Atlanta is confusing is because it is a point on the Earth of strange electromagnetic power. It heals you if you crash a plane there.

This is a pretty huge-ass city, it turns out.

Anyway, I hear grassroots calling for unity. It's only a question of where and when.

People who just cram as much [censored] as they can into their car and hit the road, but who still want to sleep in a bed, use a desk, etc. I'm only going to be here for the summer.

I've always felt we should change the street signs so that the suffix (Dr, St, Av, etc.) was huge, and the "peachtree" was tiny.
No kidding. Good idea.

Also, we should have some two-way streets downtown, and not change the names of roads based on what ethnicity primarily inhabits the road's different segments.

I find your downtown needlessly complex. WTF is with this endless "Peachtree" [censored].
I guess you can't go to/live in Atlanta without making this joke. Once you live here long enough, you'll realize that the whole Peachtree thing isn't really that big a deal. Just don't confuse Roswell Road in Sandy Springs with Roswell Road in Marietta.

Personally, when I moved here 7+ years ago, I found the unending combination of street names to be the most confusing. Peachtree-Dunwoody, Ashford-Dunwoody, Powers Ferry, Johnson Ferry, Cobb Pkwy, South Cobb Dr., etc. Up on the northwest corner of the Perimeter, one street changes names three times within a few blocks (Powers Ferry to Akers Mill to Cumberland Blvd). My big problem with downtown is that the signs for the highway are terrible. I always have problems getting out of downtown. The city needs to put signs ABOVE the roads so you can see them from a couple blocks away and make the necessary lane change early.

I also find it interesting that my slightly-sketchy new neighborhood can directly abut an enormous area of office buildings, condominiums and shopstravaganzas. Seems like ya'll just kinda mush it all together around here.
This is true. The last few years, any open piece of land, no matter how small, is begging for new housing.

Fine, but didn't the city planners consult with one another? Why are they so enamored of that name?

When I was recently in Atlanta, I got tripped up by all the name changes. Coming out of a Taco Mac (good eatin') I decided to take a different route back to the hotel. However I got lost. Why? Because Peachtree Pkwy. changes its name to Medlock Bridge Road for a few miles, and then BACK TO Peachtree Pkwy. I'm used to flat, straight roads that have the same name for their entire length. Atlanta was quite a shock.

I lived in Atlanta for a year back in the 80s after college. I was the asst. tennis coach for Georgia State U. The head coach was a former teammate of mine from college...I lived in a house with the members of the team. My life consisted of playing and coaching tennis, going to Hooters to watch Hawks basketball while passing the Hooters waitresses back and forth like they were candy.

I remember one night when the Hawks were playing the Celtics in the playoffs, and my buddy Pete was a huge Celtics fan. The Celtics had just eliminated the Hawks from the playoffs and the whole bar was bummed. Pete went up in front of the big screen with his Celtics hat on and started screaming at the top of his lungs how much the Hawks sucked. Well, this tipped of a major brawl and half the team and I spent the night in jail.

I miss Atlanta.

Great city to be a young professional person in. Plus NDH is a solid location to be in. If you're 5'6" tall, 5'6" wide and Jewish I'm sure you'll meet some nice Emory girls

I'm hoping for some serious debauchery. Someone organize it. I'd do it myself, but I don't really live in Atlanta and I'm not that familiar with the city. Actually I wouldn't, and that's just my excuse, but either way, someone else needs to organize it.

Well, that, and lower Buckhead (Peachtree Park lawl), and Midtown, and Lawrenceville, and Flowery Branch.....

Be advised, 'Cardo, that in other cities if you miss your destination you can "Go around the block". There is no 'around the block' in ATL. Find a place to U-turn and come back.
