Attention Atlanta crew: I'm returning to the US at the end of the month, looking to spend a day or two in my favorite city. Any chance of putting together a meetup the weekend of 10/5?

Also I'll probably be stuck at the airport the weekend prior for almost a full day before I get a flight to Nashville if anyone wants to come out for a drink.

also in Atlanta, if you ever go to Moondogs, Hole in the Wall, Peachtree Tavern, 5 paces, or any of the other dive bars in Buckhead I've probably spilled a drink on you or hit on you, sorry.

It was just the chief executive of Saraguay Petroleum who wanted to do that. Nobody took him seriously.

I believe Sonny Perdue's exact response was, "wat."

I have a friend who is literally worried about getting to work monday. He has a giant SUV, and is now out of gas. That is ridiculous.

I couldn't find gas within 4 square miles yesterday. Car is currently in driveway with about 50 miles left. Dependence on Middle East oil rules! Vote Republican this November for more of the same.

Yeah, I know no one took him seriously but its rather scary considering most my friends are also worried about getting up there from ATL and back with no problems. Considering that there is a huge shortage and then also considering the number of people that will be traveling up there(in HUGE freaking RV's nonetheless), it should be interesting to see what happens. The Athens Parkway doesnt have the many gas stations to and from Athens. Carpooling anyone?

meh. last i heard the gas shortage was PANIC driven, not supply driven.

we don't have enough gas in the entire country to fill every car's gas tank. so we rely on everyone keeping a happy medium.

when people think gas is scarce, they wait in line for an hour to fill their half full tank up, allowing everyone to see the huge line and join in, snowballing it.

as of a few days ago, there were patches right outside Atlanta that didn't even know a "gas shortage" was going on, while every station up 400 was empty.

you guys in Atlanta better take all your money out of WaMu before it fails!!!!

This has got to be a joke, right? I grew up just outside of Dalton. My mom lives there now. The only thing to love about Dalton is the fact that there is more than one Zaxby's. That is, unless you get off on carpet mill fumes.

Thank god they were able to get the UGA/bama game on. <3

Oh, and fwiw, the gas crisis has little to nothing to do with middle eastern oil or panic. Well, some what with panic, but mostly its just the fact that the Southeast relies on refineries based in Houston. Since they are down, or not all at top efficiency, there isn't enough high quality gas to ship to Atlanta. The pipelines are fine, the pumps are fine, its just a shortage of refineries.

Dalton has badass carpets, how can you knock that ?

I freaking love and miss Zaxby's! Their sauce has something in it that make you addictive to it!

We tried making it from scratch on Saturday with moderate success.

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup ketchup
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
tons of black pepper

IMO it tasted awfully close to the original*

*I was not sober

There was a place in Athens that had sauce very similar to Zaxby's and I cant remember the name of it. Google is not being my friend either. Either way, yeah, that sauce rules. I miss it dearly.

Google became my friend: Guthries of Athens, very small restaurant with amazing dipping sauce.

I'm looking to relocate to Atlanta and am trying to find work. Was curious if anyone had any leads on opportunities. Maybe you can get a referral out of it. I have a business degree from a big ten school and have been in real estate for the past 4 years. Would be open to anything business or sales related. Entry level is ok depending on what it is.

Can expand more via pm if anyone is willing to help.
