She has divided herself up to make strong emotions more manageable. Things like this are usually triggered by abuse. She needs a lot of help reintegrating her personalities.

Spoonitnow, would you two describe yourselves as traditional and fundamentalist or are you open to treatments that would not be the social norm. How badly do you want to fix this problem, or do you even consider it a problem? Psychotherapy can help but it can also exacerbate the problem. If you are open to alternatives shoot me a PM and I can give you food for thought.

i tilted so hard when i read that her mum was asked if chelle had had any severely traumatic incidents in her life and replied no. i'm not sure exactly how religious mum is, but it reminds me of so many religious people i know who seem to adopt a kind of self-righteous "dont want people to think there's anything wrong with my family" image maintenance attitude. may be barking up the wrong tree here, regardless - very fascinating read, thanks spoon. i wish both you and chelle all the best.

This type of reaction to abuse is hardly limited to the ultra-religious. A huge part of why instances of child sexual abuse are so rarely reported is because the perpetrator is usually very close to the family, and people just can't reconcile the fact that someone they know could do that (also because of a huge amount of guilt that they left their child alone with this monster).

This is so weird. Ignoring the MPD aspect of it, basically what happened here is you're having an argument and she starts to get pissed at you. Then you try to help her get pissed at you. Then both of you are sort of sharing excitement because she successfully got pissed at you. Then you remind her to focus on being pissed at you, and she excitedly agrees.

God that's weird. It also makes me question whether or not she's really feeling anger when she's simultaneously bonding with you like that.

It's a little weird. But when you're close with someone like that, you can sometimes reach a meta-level during tense, emotionally charged moments when you both can momentarily step back, remark on the intense feelings being expressed, and decide where to go from there -- be it adjourning the conversation, encouraging the flow of emotion for therapeutic reasons, or pausing for a sanity check before resuming in more subdued tones.

Have you ever wondered if as Michelle grows up, Little Michelle will also get older (not necessarily in sync with her actual age growth so say in 10 years LM become's 11).

I know this goes against the theory that LM is Michelle's personality from before she was sexually abused but I think it's a interesting thought.

At the moment, it's just after midnight and I've been reading your posts for about an hour, getting a feel for your situation and wondering whether to ask you about this.

I'm currently working a summer job and I met this amazing girl, (name omitted for safety reasons), who happens to have multiple personalities. It's been around a month and even though I suspected it, and then she told me about it, yesterday night I met her other personality for the first time and it was probably the most bizarre moment of my life... both personalities know the other exists, both have issues with each other (the "original" has no issues while the "intruder" is aggressive and nymphomaniac). Having had conversations with both and seeing how they act I saw that multiple times today she has gone from one personality to the other.

What I wanted to say is, ordinarily I don't know what I'd do about this, but your post has given me the courage to try my best with her...

wow, great thread. i read the entire first page (100 posts per obv) and some of the second and then just fast-forwarded for pics. most of your pics don't work anymore but appreciated anyway - she's way better looking than i expected. also i love the balls on forehead story and think it is a legit explanation of it being worth it.

do you think part of the reason you're in love with her is that she gives you a purpose/extreme importance/etc? some would say it's lol bad to play the rescuer, and they might be right - but i can see it for sure, especially if you were kind of without purpose before. you two are pretty much forced into being about as close as two people can be.
