Feeling like a bit of a techtard but I'm having no luck getting this spliced together.

Windows movie maker wont open the clips. They're .mov files taken w/ my iphone. Picassa let's me edit them down but won't splice them together and windows movie maker won't play them.

I loaded the individual clips to youtube and used their editor but when it was done the sound didn't match up perfectly and they want to put a label on it basically saying they made it.

So, I still need to splice these together. There's about 70 clips and youtube says I can't upload anything longer than 10 minutes. Is there any way around that? I have a nearly 15 minute video even after cutting. I know I could break it in two but that would kind of suck.

In other news, an update:

We got up at 4am on Monday morning and left Port Angeles for Seattle 60nm away. We got up early to make sure we were tied up and done before dark. We had a 30kt tailwind + current which meant cruising along at over 10kts for much of the morning so we were tied up and eating hamburgers by 1pm. There's no way to explain the relief of tying the boat up for the final time and being done.

I've spent the week getting caught up on life and friends as well as cleaning the boat inside and out. The owner arrives in a few hours and I fly out tomorrow afternoon, heading back to St. Thomas to warm up and pickle my liver a bit.

My brother moved off the boat yesterday to stay with friends and he flies out Sunday. I just finished putting together the slide show of the 2nd half of the trip.

I'll get to the questions above in the next post.

Yeah if you shot the videos with your iphone then windows will have nothing to do with it. Those two companies hate each other and both try their best to not associate with the other. Even if that means making things less user convenient for their customers.

de captain,

Glad to hear that you got back safe and weren't eaten by cannibals in the South Pacific, (did you hear about that German guy? Freaky.)

? I've been at sea for 2 months, I didn't hear about anyone getting eaten. Irieguy was supposed to be keeping me up to date on current events. This seems like the sort of thing he should have told me but he kept saying nothing was happening in the world other than Steve Jobs dying.

fwiw when we were in the Marquesas we hiked up to the top of this mountain on Nuka Hiva where there was an ancient alter. It was one of the coolest, and creepiest things I've ever seen.

There was a giant alter on the side of a mountain built of giant stones weighing at least 400-500lbs each and all intricately fit together without mortar. All of these stones had been hauled up the mountain. The alter overlooked kind of an ampitheater and the alter had a pit sunk into it's floor on each side. Each pit was about 3'x3'x6' deep, just large enough to hold a person until they sacrificed them.

For the life of me I don't know why i didn't take pictures.

Apparently their guide arranged for the husband to be led off by the cannibals to "see a nice waterfall" or something, leaving him to be able to have his way with the woman at his leisure. Unfortunately for him she managed to escape, but by the time she got pack with police all they could find of her hubby were the smouldering bones.

And they were sailing around on their yacht as well ...

FFS... Sitting in the airport downing screwdrivers. fWIW Alaska Air is the nut low, though American isn't far behind at the moment.

I booked my flight on American. Actually my mom booked it because I was at sea and had no access. I got to the airport went to the AMerican counter and they sucked and told me the 1st leg was on Alaska air at the other end of the terminal and I have 4 bags to totalling 200lb. Yes, my mother still handles a bunch of my affairs. She's trustworthy and free.

Got to Alaska(damn near literally) and the woman busted my balls for a good 45 minutes, a true (going to leave this blank). She then charged me an additional $135 for checked luggage despite my protest that I was flying American and never get charged for these same 2 bags. Trying to reason with a woman is like pissing into the wind.

She also. Didn't bother to. Tell me the flight was also delayed by an hour. I checked in 3hrs ahead because that's when I could get dropped off. Also FN iPad and putting periods every other word.

So I wasted time at the bar went to my flight to find it delayed and looked at my boarding pass to see it was already delayed when she printed it but she couldn't be bothered to tell me she was so busy screwing me over my luggage.

Expensive afternoon between luggage and screwdrivers./stupid travel rant. Sorry I'll actually answer some questions now

A lot of dumb sailors out there. Is there any chance you'd go to a foreign country and allow people you don't know to separate you from your wife in the wilderness? That's rhetorical in case the screwdrivers are impairing my poor writing skill.

I'd like to think anyone who's spent a bit of time traveling can develop a sense of when things are going sideways. It isn't perfect obviously, i was 75% sure i Was moments from being mugged on a train in South Africa but nothing happened except me having to tell my SLF what i Believed was about to happen. We've both obviously had close scrapes but I like to think I know when to keep my wallet in my front pocket or not to head into the jungle with crazy eyed cannibals. Of course I just sealed my fate.

Just tryin' to abide

Oh yeah, he was definitely stupid, but most people when they're away from home walk around in some sort of cushioned daze like they're in Disney World or something.

Anyway, I'm trying to come up with a sick burn for the check-in cow but all I can think of is that you drink just enough vodkas so that you can time your projectile vomit scenario into the face of the head steward as you are leaving the just landed Alaskan Airlines flight.

yeah, most people suk when they travel. As for trying to burn the nice lady that screwed me out of $135 today w/o so much as a reach around I'm working hard to follow my new life strategy provided by the great doctor himself.

On plane now and here's something that could actually help people as opposed to my rants. If you ever get an American advantage gold card never give that up. Even if it's expired for a year or 2 just flash it at the boarding counter and you board 1st class every time and usually get upgraded. Never throw that card away.

Congrats on fullfilling the delivery beautifully, the owner must be happy!

Hopefully the rest of Your journey on airlines goes more smoothly. Rigid and bureaucratically oriented people are hard to deal with.

Every place around the world has it's specialties. Do You long to go back somewhere ? Since You live in the Caribbean do other tropical paradises amaze as much ?

What made You choose Port Louis over Grand Baie or Mahebourg on Mauritius?

De Captain, I searched but couldn't find anything about your book on Amazon. Got any links? Will it be available in non-Kindle format? Thanks!

de captain when you get a chance can you tell us about what it's like to look up at the stars at night when you're in the middle of the ocean with no light pollution around?

Also please tell us about those dolphins at 0:59 that were hanging out with you in the 2nd video.

Why is your brother holding that net in 0:45? Did you catch a piece of net that was floating in the ocean?

Lots of shots of you in that red all-weather suit. Is that what that was? Why are you wearing it, because of the temperature? How cold did it get such that the weather made that suit necessary? Waterproof also?

The new song made me sad. I like way you used Brandy in the first video, I had some co-workers singing along and bebopping to your first video while we envied the stowaway bird.

I still don't really believe you ate 15 packages of Tim Tams in one trip like that, but you must have burnt a ton of calories battling Moby & family, so OK.
