I recently put Monster boxes of 85 and 86 Topps right in the garbage.

Paid off a sports betting debt 25 years ago with my decent stuff but now looking back at it there wasn’t much there. The only thing I wish I had back is a Bird/Magic rookie that had super sharp corners but was off-Center.

I am smack dab in the middle of your core audience: buying cards of my favorite players to collect for my kids to have: Jeter; Sayers; Clemente; Jordan; Curry.

What is your worst, "Customer thought they had a down payment on a house but I had to tell them it was a reprint..." story?

3000 sq feet, fnm typically 20 to 24. Prerelease 48 to 96 (kaladesh was 96) Legacy is kinda non existant as a format here but collectors buy them

Are you worried about a declining inventory value in a declining market?

Do you send in raw cards to be certified? if so how much a month?

I never go to card shows, we buy about 400 a day on average at 50% of ebay last auction sales. My inventory doesnt decline as we order everything new that is coming out and buy daily. I do not grade much of my stuff but do offer the service for customers for $24 bucks a card.

It happens almost every week honestly. Tons of reprints or 1953 topps archives sets that they looked up on ebay and saw 250k. Most take it pretty well.

I used to collect cards and hung out in shops. I liked collecting players whole careers. Had every card of George Brett.

My city went from one card shop to six shops in a year. All closed shortly. I think this was when Fleer got into the market.

I had a poor condition Pete Rose rookie. I called one store and got a bad offer. He laughed and said I am only game in town anymore. Go get your Yellow Pages and good luck calling the other closed card stores.

He was right.

-If you are buying at 50% eBay then what do you typically sell at compared to eBay?
-How much is your local team stuff marked up compared to non local teams?
-Have you ever though about going strictly online and closing the B&M?
-Roughly what's the breakdown of your age of inventory. Is it mainly all newer stuff?

Thanks for all the participation and answers.

You've had the shop for 20 years now, right? How has the profit gone up/down over the years?

I have almost broken a tooth on some rock hard gum.

It can also ruin the card next to it. I have had cards that have the outline of the stick.

Speaking of which, I am sure there are companies that say they can restore/upgrade card conditions.

Does this work and can it potentially destroy the value? I am sure this is subject to forgery too. Huge price difference based on card condition.
