No interest just thought it may be a fun topic. In fact do not plan to give the name or anything. Just figured most guys in the 30 and up age range at some point had cards or thought of going into card business.

It is pretty wild, the 2016 cubs winning the WS made things really hot for a bit then judge / bellinger pushed 2017 into good #s. The football rookie class isnt nearly as hot as the 2016 with dak and zeke but 2017 18 basketball class (including simmons from last year and ball stuff is selling like hot cakes). That said magic the gathering is slow, pokemon is dying, and yugioh is dead

I am in my mid-late 37s and don't know a single person who collects baseball cards?

What percentage of people does?

I cannot speak for the world but for my area only in 2016 to 2017 we had 2400 different debit cards ran through system. And oddly a lot of people pay cash so I would say we had about 4500 unique customers purchase.

Ha sadly no we have a policy of no 80s or 90s.

There was a time tho when that was gold.

I meant the US, I doubt there are many other countries (besides Japan) where people both care about baseball and have the means to afford cards?

4500 customers would sound like a lot in a town of 30k but probably not in a metro area of 5 million.

What's the average price range for cards in your shop? Is there a large market of people who spend >$1k on a single card?

Avg sale is 60$ but we have guys who regularly spend 500 a pack for high end and a couple who pay up to 2k for the highest end stuff for 1 pack. Now days you cannot buy a hobby box for under 150 that is anything good. My town has 140k people.

90% of autographs that are not authenticated are fake.

5% of baseball cards (with grading now days you really dont buy raw good stuff anyway)

If it is not PSA, JSA, Becket, Tristar, Steiner, or UDA its likely not good.

They had an HBO show where they forged the certificates.

It seems high-grade printers can replicate cards.

And machines can replicate signatures.

I would assume there are no super-deals anymore with the Internet.

What % of cards are mint?

What is the best way to keep a card in mint for a long time?

Yea 80's and 90's are pretty crappy. Only thing I'm interested in from that era are Tiffanys or PSA 10's of stars.

What are the demographics of your clientele?

Have much debt have you accrued in the 15 months? Just rent or do you have a huge inventory of stuff that people aren't buying that counts as debt too?
