Is your store a front for a better business?

How accurate is Beckett? I've been told it should only be used as a rough guide. "The true value of a card is what someone will pay for it"

At what age do collectors generally lose interest? I collected as feverently as my limited budget allowed from age 11-14. Interest tapered off at 15 and I haven't purchased a card since then.

I collected as a kid in that worst period of late 80s, early 90s. I sold it all for $530 eight years ago when my mom sold the house and I had to clear out everything I had left in my bedroom closet. I surely spent thousands in allowance and gift money. Luckily, I had at least bought some older cards of Hall of Fame players along with the crap stuff of that day for me to get back what I did. I'll never return to buying anything except perhaps a few of those high-end cards I wanted as a kid but couldn't afford, like a Koufax rookie.

Is there a reason for that large inventory or is that standard? How many months does it take to turnover 50% of inventory and what percentage of inventory is dead?

In most other businesses, the goal is to have as little inventory as possible.

Is there a formula for how an active players on field performance effects price?

Kyle Seager is nobody special, but would imagine his card is more valuable than Alcides Escobar's.

Do you get any noticeable level of business from these youtubers who do box breakings?

I own thousands of cards. Pry the most football, then basketball, then baseball

I collected from mid 90's to 2000 pry, nothing too crazy. Occasional box of something or two at Xmas, some packs here and there. When i used to look up my cards, they topped out at $30, I would have a lot of inserts in that range.

soooo, I had to bust them out to reminisce a bit. I dont know a lot about grading and have never had a card graded but most of mine are in ok/decent shape, some are in cases, a few of my better ones I would consider now(sum them up in as many or as little words as you would like): J Rice/Moss Starquest insert 98 UD Choice, Lynn Swann 77' Topps(dug this one from my uncle. I have a lot of his late 70s - mid 80s football but seems to be pages of nobodies), Moss 97' Toops Finest, Iveron UD3 Hardwood Prospects, 96-97 Kobe Fleer Ultra rookie(little knicked up), Duncan 97' Stadium Club rook, Collector's Choice 95' Crash the Game set(basketball), 94' Jeter Classic Best, 98' Score R Moss, 98' Metal Universe Quasers R Moss, 95' Collectors Choice set of MJ(5 cards), 97' Crash the Game set, 96-97 Stackhouse's All Fleer set, 98 UD MJ's Career Collection, 97-98 Flair KG Hardwood Leaders, Jeter Bowman 94(corner's knicked), Jeter Toops rookie, Jeter UD rookie, J Rice Laserview Gold, E Smith UD Hot Properties insert, 96' Pacific marino

MJs: 97' UD Air Time Departure, 1991 UD baseball (SP1), Hoops Number Crunchers, 99 Athlete of the Century, 93 UD baseball (MJ23, a little knicked up)

I'll stop lol, pry nothing too great. But I have Steve Young's, Marino's, Emmitt Smith's, some Kobe's, Jordan's(like 300 but I have sets of 60 and 40 of his, something like that), Shaq's(nothing too rare but cards that are part of a set and in decent shape in regards to guys I listed). Oversized set of the 94 basketball class, included Penny Hardaway/CWebb

A little bit of everything from that era. Money instead of boxed cards would be nice but as overall advice, what should I do? Hold them and hope to sell them later or maybe start looking to sell them now? where? how? lots or singles, etc?

Is there any measurable market for the 70's O-Pee-Chee hockey stuff? Obviously I got your point on the 80's-90's baseball (some O-Pee-Chee in addition to the uncut Donruss sheets and standard run-of-the-mill Topps).

And now that some of the USFL players hit the NFL, are those original cards carrying any sort of value?

I've not looked at any of them in well over 20 years...they just sit all catalogued in storage at the house.

The value of cards isn't something that only card dealers know. It's info that can be found with a little research. Go to eBay, type the card or set in, check the current listings and the solds, ignore any that are graded high.

We sell a tad under ebay comp. Cubs and cardinals are huge for us in midwest. Would lose all buying opportunities closing it and our distributors require a brick and mortar. I turn everything inside of 3 months through fb groups or online. New inventory 2x a week comes in from distributor.

They are paid for and don't eat anything. Hold and hope imo.

And I love collecting 80's cards.

What about the one where it was Jr and his brother. Didn't Billy have "d!ckhead" or something on the knob of his bat? I remember that from way back. Maybe it was just an urban legend, I never saw one.

What do you think of the digital industry? Do you run MTGO bots or do you stay strictly paper?

What do you use as a standard for Magic pricing?

****/Marry/Kill - WOTC, TOPPS, Upperdeck?

How long before there are tourneys where every single card is slabbed?

mtgo bot seems like a completely different industry

i dont know exactly what you mean above but there are like 10 people who actually play magic tournaments with the oldest cards

Why would you wholesale to people who are essentially your competition?

Couldn't you do significantly better by expanding your box breaking business yourself - it seems like the only real growth area in the industry.
