I avoided fast food/truck stop food. I kept a mini fridge with normal meal stuff. (sandwiches/noodles) I tried to exercise when I could. I walked around all the different places I delivered to.

Definitely

I lived in my truck. I had bunk beds, a TV, Computer, Fridge and a closet. No toilet. You'd be surprised I think at how much room is back there.

Do you own your own truck, or rent/lease?

I drove for SWIFT for 2 years and didn't own/rent/lease it. I drive for a local beer distributorship now and have an apartment/life.

Can you take some pictures?

I wish I had taken some when I was driving over the road.

How many days a year do you work? Do you have a home that you come back to and stay at for a week or two? And how are you online, oh god, you're driving and typing aren't you halp
When I started I asked to get home time every two weeks but it ended up being about every 2 months for a couple of days. Truck driving is not a good job for people in relationships.

Do you make a ****-load more money then those guys?

I made $.37 a mile and would drive 4000 miles/week sometimes. No rent, no bills

How long have you been driving?

5-6 years now.

Is there any romance left in the job (you know, cruising along America's highways seeing the country kind of thing)? Was there EVER any romance?

I loved it but it gets lonely. Most people can't stick with it their whole lives.

What do you listen to when you drive?

Usually nothing. It was pretty zen.

Also, I'm seconding the question regarding best type of road food.
I don't really know I like tacos. I thought a drive through restaurant for big-rigs would make a fortune though.

What about a pull-up restaurant? Like a van that'd pull up beside the truck and you do the whole exchange out the window.

I mean, ignoring the huge blatant risk factors.

My cousin suggested the same exact thing. It sounds like a huge time save, I like it.

I'm sure it's pretty common. I never used drugs when I was driving. I've seen lots of guys snorting coke while they're driving.

If your goal is to make money this sounds like a terrible idea. If your goal is to drive around jacked up on coke then this would be the perfect arrangement.

Are you sure it wasn't meth?

How often did you eat at diners? I'd always be coming back from somewhere in the middle of the night and it'd be all truckers eating breakfast at like 1:30am. Bang any waitresses? What would you order? What are the trucker showers like? What's the biggest animal you've hit?

Are you ever worried your truck might be homicidal like in that movie Maximum Overdrive?

I don't think I ever ate at a diner. I never banged any waitresses. The showers at commercial truck stops are usually very clean. When someone comes out, it shows up on the computer so the cleaning lady can go get it ready for you. The biggest animal I ever hit was a bird. It broke my side mirror.

Well, I was never "worried" about it. That would be cool.

Lonely, I take it you never tried skateboarding. Ever talk to any drivers who drive flatbed?

Sounds like a bitch of a job, what with securing loads in every imaginable weather condition. They sometimes enjoy Magic Carpet Rides, which apparently involves hanging onto a tarp that got caught up in the wind. Pays well, though.

I've considered trucking several times over the years, but when it came down to brass tacks I just couldn't go through with it. The stories of the sh;tbags knocking on the door and waking you up at night trying to sell stuff alone was enough to dissuade me.

Also, no disrespect intended, but we both know that Swift drivers are considered to be the bottom of the barrel (due to their meat-in-the-seat recruiting efforts). Did you ever get any harassment or shlt-talking from other drivers, or the shipping and receiving crowd?

You ever thought about being an "ice road trucker"?

What's the closest you came to a jack knife?

What's your longest (in miles) haul?

Never mind the fap, ever have any women hitchers give you a handy or road head?

Ever miss a delivery only to have to bring it back a long way?

I don't know if it's a state thing but California/New York definitely were the worst places to drive. Phoenix is pretty bad too.
