I don't believe this is true. I'm not old enough to remember the 70s obviously but clubs at least in Canada have been on an upswing. Originally there was one in Toronto and one in Montreal and then more just kept opening. At one point there was at least six in Toronto. Further, this is considered acceptable enough that Toronto Life which is a mainstream publication included one of the clubs in a best reasons to come to Toronto list or best things to do in Toronto or something like that.

No there was no build up of other sexual activities. I think it was partly that I wasn't super comfortable in my sexuality yet. Probably a good chance to expand on the whole "Aren't you worried your wife will leave you?" question that keeps popping up. It's extremely important to still focus on your relationship even when you don't swing. If our relationship is suffering chances are good my wife might fall for someone else even if we weren't swinging. It's an important reason to make sure your relationship is rock solid before going down this path.
