It's crazy how often he fled scenes, including one accounter with a police man in a garage during his Ransacker days IIRC.
thanks for your help. It's crazy that dude just assumed i'd know what those abbrevations meant. I hate reading about serial killers and rapists, gives me the heebie jeebies. Especially with my mental illness and ideas of reference and paranoia (too many concussions and lsd), it can be hard to deal with.
This podcast does a great job of summarizing the case, and is also really refreshing because it sticks to facts about the case and not much conjecture by the narrator or others about who the killer may be, motives, etc
Amazing news couldn't believe it when I read about it, found out by randomly visiting the subreddit on the case. I followed it for several years and never thought I'd be reading about his capture. Delighted for the victims and law enforcement, great news all round.
Nice lynch mob mentality you got there. Innocent until proven guilty?
100% total DNA match to six of the murders & apparently he's confessed & also to being the Visalia Ransacker, whom he was suspected of being also so the trial will be a mere formality, no way is he gonna walk.
This is one of the craziest parts of this whole thing to me:
Quote:
The man charged with being the Golden State Killer, who killed a dozen people and raped dozens of women in California decades ago, worked quietly for years in a supermarket warehouse.
Quote:
That serial killer is tied to at least 12 homicides, 45 rapes and dozens of burglaries across California.

I agree with gin. what's so laugh out loud worthy about innocent until proven guilty?
The State must presume innocence until guilt is proven. There is no such requirement placed on the media, individuals, or even OOT posters.

Amoeba: Guy had moved on to murdering too. Obviously much more here than just the sexual element. It’s crazy to me that he could just lock that part of him away like that after his incredibly prolific 10+ year run of terror.
I'm aware of all that. My point, which I conveyed poorly, was to question why anyone is talking about a trial when I've seen no reports of him pleading not guilty.
ETA: And in fact won't be arraigned until tomorrow.
But that said my bad, while I read the EARONS sub, it was actually from the Unresolved Mysteries sub where I learned it & was flabbergasted & delighted.

Why would he confess and then plead not guilty?
I have no idea how he'll plead but my point is, there's no way he's gonna be acquitted due to the DNA evidence anyway, the alleged/apparent confession is simply yet more evidence still which can & will be used against him. He's screwed, basically & will either be executed or die on death row.

Well if he pleads guilty there won't be a trial but if it does go to trial & he pleads not guilty for whatever reason,he's still gonna be convicted. Maybe he'll plead not guilty simply for more fame via trial.Either way he's screwed.
Most violent psychopaths tend to start "calming down" in their 40's. It's a young man's game, by and large.
edit: aka "burning out"
In some cases pretty much & several serial killers have stopped or else stopped for years on end, such as Dennis Rader/BTK, Gary Ridgeway, The Doodler (still at large although cops apparently know who he is) The Monster of Florence murders & others.
It's not confirmed Deangelo actually did stop though as his official tally is 12 murders, yet authorities have recently alluded to a 13th.
I know & I had thought the California SC were still deciding on the issue & was somewhat surprised when the news said they'd be seeking the death penalty for Deangelo. I reckon he'll be put on death row & will die there of natural causes, if he doesn't commit suicide, apparently he's on watch.
Reading that his DNA was a familiarly match through private companies databases such as 23 and me and ancestry. Has this technique been deemed legal anywhere? Would be crazy if this guy walks if DNA is thrown out.
