I kinda dig how all these rich folks are getting a collection together for Notre Dame because after 2000 years the Catholic Church is barely scraping by

The government owns it. It's people willingly giving the government of France a billion dollars...

In the spirit of thinman yard projects, **** digging!

The place I just moved into had (and still has) a disaster of a front yard. People who lived here previously installed a sprinkler system, but apparently gave up on the yard and completely let it go. Literally all weeds, zero grass.
So I decided to dig it all up and start over.

And bc the sprinkler lines were down there, I didn't want to use a rototiller and risk breaking a pipe, so I dug it all by hand.
Might be one of the dumber things I've ever attempted.

Imagine this density of weedage but 2-4 feet tall across the entire yard. That's what it was like when I moved in. These first 2 pics taken after the weeds were cut down

Day 0

Day 1

Slooooooow going

Day 2

Day 3

Today

I thought I could knock this out in a couple hours and have all the weeds gone, soil raked smooth, and be ready to spread grass seed and plant flowers and plants on the far side within a day.
NOPE! not even close.

**** weeds, **** shovels, **** digging, **** the morons who let the yard get out control, and **** me for deciding to do it this way.

I honestly have no idea. There are 3 main varieties that covered 95% of the yard but I'm not sure of the names.
1) the low lying vine-like ones with purple flowers
2) the thicker stalks that are cut off in pic#2, that had grown as high as 4ft in many places, with broad roundish leaves
3) crab grass

then random dandelion and thistle with the occasional patch of clover. maybe some of those are even the same species, idk?

Would be nice if you could make some marshmallows from its roots. Definitely Cooking Thread worthy!

Sweet rock garden codesis. Or are those just topsoil boulders?

Thats what happens when you soak everything to soften it up dig, fail to rake, and then its 85 degrees out the next day.
