So you never officially quit your old job even though you were about to start a new one in a different state a couple days later?

I don’t want to get into a lot of details, but yes I did. That Friday was to be my last day. Obviously I put it back together

I did it once when I was like 18 or 19 and I felt super bad. it was a convivence store nightshift 11-7am or something it got robbed twice in a month and I was living at home and my mom cried untill I quit without notice. It got robbed on my nights off and I always hung out with the sketchy people because there was nothing else to do so I felt like I was kinda badass and they wouldn't rob me as much lol. I would have borderline junkies just hang out with me for hours almost ****ed a pretty cute one in the bathroom on my last shift who always hung out with me (not actually sure drug addict lol). Looking back it was probably pretty reasonable yo quit it was in the crack den part of town and I already had a fun summer job lined up anyway.

Idk I never had too many jobs degen here

oh and my only other job ive had in like the last 6-8 years I did give my notice but I got my covid shot and faked symptoms to get 3 paid days off since i was super pissed at them and how they handled me working there during covid and if you didn't use the 3 days paid covid days in canada you lose em. and they did sketchy things like making me "part time" but working me fulltime hours to not have to pay sick days ever.

One example the store had a fire and the inventory was all destroyed so they brought in teams from the big city toronto to help work the new inventory etc (walmart) This was early in peak covid when people were still scared of it .I was just buddys with all the backroom truck unloaders so I just left my department to work with them because I was bored and didnt have anything else to do they had to pay us anyway so most employees just came in and did nothing. So there was an outbreak with the guys from toronto so them and all the local guys who were working with them got like a week of paid time off to you know not spread it. This was really early in covid and it was like the first 10-20 people to get it in my city so it was a big deal then. I was throwing's freight with them for the entire weekend (not in their department so no one really knew I was there management wise) so I go to my boss and tell them I was there and they basically brush it off and say dont worry about it we looked at the cameras which had to be a lie because I was in a huge confined truck with patient 0 throwing freight (good old bullshit capitalism)

So instead of quitting without notice i just gave my notice and barely came in which ****ed them over even more. I was covering for the cart pushers doing 2 or 3 peoples job because winter started so no sane person would do that job in northern ontario. Im sure the managers or whatever sucker they found to try to do the job got very cold.

My adventures of being depressed from poker and quitting for a bit kinda just reminded me how shitty it is to be a wage slave and I busted my ass killing it since. I worked retail at walmart during peak covid lol so awful got moved to like 6 different departments because i never said no. only fun part was I got to be one of two people who were forklift trained so I just dicked around in the forklift all summer moving all the dirt and flowers they sell outside. alot...

Other fun jobs included pretending to count how many people enter and leave the store because of covid restrictions but the number was like 800 people or something ridiculous that the store never reached on even black friday so it was all just for show. the store just paid someone to stand there allday to look like they care or please city restrictions even tho they were not acually limiting how many people entered the store. So they made you stand at the door for 8 hours without sitting down and count even tho it was such a high number that it would take 1/50th of the city to all come to walmart at once to reach. altho when the restrictions first started it was like 50-100 people limits in the store and they would line up like 300 people outside and I would basically have to be a bouncer/security guard dealing with scared manaics getting paid minimum wage. I dont even want to talk about the days of the toilet paper.... Im glad someone burned that ****er down.

Anyway the concept of a two weeks notice is stupid anyway since they don't usually and dont have to give you a notice when they fire or lay you off.

This experience turned me super antiwork and a big believer of universal basic income even tho im kinda right wing for a canadian, because most of the **** jobs we do now can and should be taken over by computers (cashiers, door counters etc half the walmart/minimum jobs basically ) and there's just not enough quality jobs and if we switched to like a 20-30 hour work week life would be so much better. **** I really need to never go back lol but playing poker gave me 0 job skills. luckily I made a yearly walmart salary in one month this year.

misreg ftw anyone wanna pay me 100k to live in ballys for a year?
